I want a hamburger, nysmile!! Thats great, seeing as how in today's paranoid world, few would let their kids eat foods that arent prepackaged. I used to love getting toffee/caramel apples at houses, clearly homemade by the lady of the house. That would never happen these days. The hospitals here even offer to xray your candy for free before you eat it!! What has this world come to??

Had about 150ish as expected - it was quite busy the first hour and quite dead the second hour.

Best costume I saw: someone dressed up as laundry in the laundry basket - had a laundry basket around him and assorted clothing thrown over him. Great.

Best treat or treat strategy: a boy who took a piece of candy then politely said, "can I have a second piece if I tell you a Halloween joke?" I said sure, listened to the joke and gave him the candy. He does this every year and every year he has a new joke to tell. Nice kid.

Wow, 150! Lucky you. We have one of those streets where not enough bother to venture down (its at the 'end'). Sigh.

Our D years ago was a washing machine, with clothes coming out of it.

Neighbors brought their darling little girl over, with baby brother. She's VERY allergic to everything, so I get her a My Little Pony or something (bought on clearance afer last Halloween). Chunky board book (ABC's from Target) for her to "read" to baby brother. She had a blast, and my DD was happy to dress up as Alice in Wonderland to fuss over her. I have M & M's on hand if we get any additional--hilly, mostly older neighbors so not too many trick or treaters.....

Lighter crowd than usual this year, kids in the neighborhood are getting older and the weather is wet, windy and rainy. Passed out *my* favs, m&ms, peppermint patties, hershey mint bars. Biggest hit was the skybar 'New Moon' assorted chocolate bars with the actors pics on the wrapper. Had a group of 6-7 young teen girls that squealed when they saw it, Taylor Lautner is so dreamy! One girl grabbed a bar and gushed, "I'm never going to eat this candy!"
Fav costume, young kid dressed as a banana, and his brother said, look, it even says certified organic.

Phew! We just turned the lights off and shut the front door. All is now quiet and we're hoping for the Yankee game to begin.

The trick or treaters were wonderful and hats off to their parents for raising such nice kids. They were friendly, polite, and thankful for their treats.

I'm in CT. Just before 8 the heavens opened and that was that, though I had planned to extinguish the pumpkin and call it a night at 8 anyway. (We grownups want to eat dinner in peace.) 60's was warm for us because it was down in the 30's just a few days ago, and it's usually in the 50's for Halloween. All the kids were very sweet. I especially love the little ones who are struck dumb when the door opens and need whispered cues from mom and dad. Listening to the "Glee" kids sing the national anthem (gorgeously) to start the World Series tonight was a lovely way to continue the evening!

We normally don't get many, but I bought the 150 bag at Costco too, just in case. I keep candy on my desk at work so I knew it would get eaten.

My husband said somehow the word must have gotten out that we had candy, plus the weather is great. Giving 2 each, I went through the whole bag from 6-8, and had to turn out the lights! It was lots of fun for me. Most of them were brought in cars. We also had parents with bags, and not as many older teenagers as usual.

Very polite kids tonight.

We give out toothpaste and yo-yos...Just kidding. I give out full size Nestle Crunch to the neighborhood kids...and fun size assortment handfuls to the kids who are driven in. I went for about 10 yrs with no kids at all in our previous home so I love to see all of the kids
