We've got a dentist here who is offering cash to kids who bring in their candy. I wonder if he'll get any takers.

I gave out M&Ms and Tootsie Rolls. My favorite costume was a middle school girl who was dressed as sushi. Pink body suit and some kind of wrapper on her middle with packing peanuts in there. (looked like rice)
Also an adorable Dracula -- about 3 years old and had moustache penciled on. He told me "thank you for the Halloween."

^^^ Cute.
One kid had on an Obama shirt and Uncle Sam outfit, with teabags hanging from the Uncle Sam top hat thing. Three guesses what he was.....

Very cute, eggmom!
We ran out of candy at about 8. I had 2 90-piece bags of skittles/starbursts (mentioned earlier that they were chosen because I don't like them) plus 2 bags of reeses and one of kitkats (purchased because I figured we'd have leftovers, both DH and DS like those and maybe if we didn't open them, I'd leave them alone!) So, we must have had about 275 kids.
We had a cute pair dressed as mustard and ketchup squeeze bottles. "Our brother was going to be a hot dog, but he didn't want to come."

Yep. There used to be more, but the elementary school down the street has been closed for a while.

275 kids? Wow. We thought we had a lot with 125.
It was lots of fun. The kids were all very nice and polite. DH and I sat outside on the front steps. That way we didn't have to worry about the doorbell driving the dog nuts.

We had our lightest turn out in recent memory - only about 20- 25. I think the rain and the World Series had something to do with that. I have lots to return - either that or give it to S and his housemates.

Post #56 made me laugh. Would love to see the expressions on kids faces if we gave out a small tube of toothpaste and a little tooth brush!
Maybe next year...just for the laughs....although...we didn't get any trick or treaters this year!

Passing nothing. Turned off the lights and went for a walk, had great fun looking at dressed up crowd. Proud of not contributing to junk food consumtion. We do it every year.

My kids have never eaten all of the candy..it is more about the dressing up and trolling the neighborhood in the dark. Also fun is the people who go out of their way to somehow either decorate and haunt their house, or jump out of the bushes and scare them.
We have a neighbor who is an artist...he made a life size metal sculpture of a horse and he sat upon it in a suit of armour...then moves and gives the kids a little fright...he didn't do this this year, but he has the most AMAZING jacko-lanterns...also, a few neighborhood parties for adults and kids.
I personally do not care much for Halloween, but our kids have had so much fun with their trick or treating experiences thru the years

I think we found the best way to serve our trick or treaters. Friday night (we do it the last Friday in October in our area of PA) we sat outside on our neighbors driveway around their firepit talking while waiting for the kids. The kids got four houses worth of candy for one stop and we enjoyed a night outside with a warm fire. After the kids stopped coming, my husband hauled out our tv set and we watched the football game outside. I always have candy bars plus raisins and pretzels for the real little children. I also buy almond joys and paydays for their parents. That was another fun thing about sitting at my neighbors house - we all shared our candy too!

We had about 150/200 on a beautiful night. We keep the door open and neighbors know that they are welcome to a spot of sustenance if they want a break from passing out candy or trick and treating.About ten adults showed up for a plate of home made pumpkin tortellone and a glass of red wine. It was a beautiful evening! And no candy left---the last bunch of teenagers usually score about 25 pc each since I leave the bowl on the porch at the end of the night when I turn off the lights.

Pouring rain here, so we had nobody... Bullet and his co-workers are happy today because he has a ton of candy!
