Affordable Medical Insurance

I just found out that the dependant medical insurance I get for my son (18) and my husband (56) through my employer is going up $100 a month to a total of $15,000 a year out of my pocket. I'm in Northern California and the insurer is PacifiCare. Does anyone have any suggestions for more affordable, decent coverage? Thanks much.

Kaiser in NoCal gets excellent reviews from Consumer Reports and US News.

And you have inexpensive group insurance?

Group insurance mandates that the employee MUST be enrolled in the plan. You may or may not be able to chose your insurance company but you want cannot opt-out or change the benefits other than maybe the deductible.

You son is able to find better pricing if he is off your group: 1) good health 2) DS has the money to absorb deducibles.

Customer surveys for Medical Ins has inherent problems. Those clients who had bad experiences, are 1) no longer covered 2) moved to another insurer.
