Uber_cast- We will happily cyber-adopt you for the admissions process. I also had uninvolved parents growing up, and always envied the kids who had great parental support.

You will come out of the process stronger and more independent than some overly-coached kids, and be more adept at maneuvering through adult life.

Mommusic- We're not nutty, we're proteiny, thus chock full of essential acids..

When we all rallied all around LatetoSchol as she was dying; She was a beautful soul and I felt blessed to have known her - even if it was not IRL. I cried when she passed, and worried about the daughter left behind. And always wonder LatetoSchool's real name was. I always think of her when I see red high heels.

Ah, eddieodessa....exactly! Latetoschool's struggle and her bravery and her eventual victory over that disease as it was "played out" through CC was, IMO, a wonderful example of the very best of what this community can do and be. I cried as well and will always regret not having the honor of knowing LTS IRL.

Churchmusicmom, how about:

when you post here at the un-godly hour of 5:25 am.!
Umm, yep. I tend to have early am headaches and can't sleep, so I peruse the interweb while I wait for the meds to kick in!

When you have no earthly reason to be here anymore (at least not for a few more years) and your middle schooler rests her chin on your shoulder every night, and presses her still chubby cheek up against yours and sighs and says, "So, how are all of your virtual friends tonight?"

And I'm more of a lurker at <150 posts. But I have to admit lurking an awful lot.

When your children's friends friend you on FB because you are The Source for all things college-related, with more up-to-date info than anyone else (especially those-overloaded GCs)

...when you use a proxy to visit CC at school

...when your friends start asking you about which scholarships are out because, as a junior, you obsessively watched the Financial Aid board and then made a list for next year.

Well, maybe that last one only applies to me!

As a side note, as with Uber_cast, I really appreciate all the parents on CC who have helped me... and I'm sure the duty isn't over yet. I often find myself wandering onto the Parents Forum to find myself in disbelief in how involved parents are in their kids' lives.

... when you tell your H you are going to do research on buying a new mattress, and he thinks you are going to consumerreports. com, but you come to CC instead because you are sure there was a thread on that topic not long ago

...when your H tells you, "Can you ask your people about the best spot for watching fireworks in Boston?" Yup, you are "my people" - LOL. He has "his people" - mostly students crying for science homework help.

eddieodessa, I have always loved wearing red heels, but they took on a special meaning after latetoschool's death. The other day, one of my coworkers commented on my cute red heels & I told her that I wear them to honor my friend. I didn't tell her I had never met this friend, because I always felt that I knew her better than I know some of my IRL friends. CC has been a place I have turned to for advice & support. When my brother died, I received lots of support ... I even got to talk to the venerable curmudgeon & hear his wonderful Texas drawl. I truly feel that I have a "community" in the best sense of the word through my involvement on this site.

....when you keep your screenname even after you son outs you to his roommate (with whom you have actually had some discussions on cc when he was applying to the same school as your son), because you are about to become a senior member, and no one is going to take that away from you!
