Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
When I find myself using "my invisible friends" as my personal Wikipedia, and citing them as such in public. Buying my new coat the other day, (see Manhattan thread) I told my husband - outloud in the store - that my invisible friends said such and such. A lady was standing nearby, and she suddenly moved away.

Binx - I think we all need normal names in addition to our screen names. For example, in addition to worknprogress, I could sign myself "Maggie" (not my name, btw). It would make it so much easier. Then you could tell your H for example, that when Maggie goes to NYC, she dresses a little warmer 'cause of all the shade, when he asks who Maggie is, you tell him that she is that woman you met whose daughter is also in college, you know the one.......

When you are forwarding posts to your kids with the preface of how smart the people here are and how they should definitely read what I'm sending.

I don't think that would go over well with binx's spouse. Maybe she met me in the library - you know the one where all of our kids are when they don't answer their cell phones

Well, we don't have a cyber library on CC yet, but someone with a non-cyber name, like Maggie, could always get one started. Until then, there is always a way to meet your invisible friends in Sinner's Alley. At Sinner's Alley, the person next to you won't suddenly move away (ala post #62), because they will understand your addiction and will know that your "invisible friends" are not a result of a psychosis.

A couple years ago, mythmom came to my S's recital in NYC. I had a very hard time with her real name. Trying to remember it when introducing her, or when addressing her ...! I have a hard enough time with names as it is.

I chose my screen name before I was really aware that, as a short cut, these names are often abbreviated. Thus the birth of FAP!

You're addicted when your GC joins CC because of your knowledge of college admissions and because you're always talking about what you read on CC.

This is slightly off topic...but I have to admit that I struggle with what to call CC when I refer to it in conversations with my friends and family.
With my son in senior in college, it's kind of embarrassing to admit I'm still on a forum that's meant for college admissions advice. So I call it "the board I watch"...or the "Parents Forum I post on." Sometimes I'll get puzzled looks. I guess I should move to "invisible friends."

When you get home from the Yankee's clinching World Series game at 1:30 in the morning and immediately post about the game because musicmom asked you to do that, and when your DH asks who you are writing to, you just mumble. |

When you consider whether you can introduce your child to the child who sounds so similar and who lives in the same state (without your child having you declared insane)
