No I am not a Honeymooner, but I got the nickname "Trixie" at work because I am always thinking of creative ways to bend the rules. Trixie was taken so TrixieAnn it is.

I'm a Maryland native (named Susan) and Blackeyed Susan is the state flower of Maryland (even though I've been transplanted to Texas).

Well, there as ADad when I joined. Names were...simple. AnotherDad came shortly after me. If I had known I was going to be here for several years instead of just getting the answer to one question as I had thought, I might have taken more time. Capt. Jack Sparrow or Inigo Montoya come to mind as appropriate names.

I wish I had taken a famous name, as that would cut down on the number of google hits that are showing my CC screen name.... Some of my posts are showing up in other college guides...

I'm a runner and my name means "runner" in French. I am not French, but putting it in French made it slightly less obvious and mundane.
Related English words are "courser" as in 'one who runs a course' and "courier." All three are descended from the Latin root "cursor" which also means simply "runner."

@TheDad, S2 was Inigo Montoya for Halloween this year, but I refuse to be Buttercup.
J'Adoube, I couldn't think why your name sounded familiar. My kids played tournament chess for years, but I was never any good at it.

Well, like many others, I wish I had given more thought to this name. The day I registered on CC, I was feeling a little overwhelm (and not about colleges) and I thought about how we had to keep push onward... Now I kinda wish it was more mystical or tongue-in-cheek or something instead of sounding like a pioneer.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. Was in too big of a hurry to post that first time...think of a name, quick....I'm a mom that loves my kids. That's why I first started spending so much time here. Not so much the only reason any more.

My name is too identifying. I too am probably going to move on to a new, and sadly blander name.

My name falls into the non-creative catagory. It simply stands for "college mom to 2". My kids were still in high school when I joined this forum, but I spent so much time in college myself (either teaching or as a student) and had two kids approaching the college years (DS is there now and DD will follow in less than two years) that it just seemed to fit.
Lafalum84 - I guess I'm slow. I have no idea what your name means, but I have always liked it because it flows so nicely. It will be missed.

I saw that many people had chosen names that have something to do with particular schools. I resisted the urge to use anything related to DS's college, and opted to refer to the mascot of the high school that BOTH of my kids attended, so as not to leave DD out. That way, hopefully, my screen name won't be irrelevant when she starts applying to different colleges next year.

My name spoke to my frame of mind while going through the college search and application process with DS1. I've since seen others using variations of this nom de plume.
