How do i get my parents to buy me a $40,000 car?

Instead of going straight into a University of California, I attended Saddleback College (located in southern orange county) for two years, which saved us over $28,000 in tuition + fees alone. With all the money saved and the sacrifice of attending a university my first two years, I feel I at least deserve a new year. A lot of kids here drive entry level luxury cars and i feel as if it would serve me well if i had one too. I would have many benefits of a new car: safety features, more job opportunities, wider social interactions, future graduation gift maybe?, ect.) I'm looking at something before i transfer in the Fall, either a BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus. How should I approach them?

Op, Your parents didn't have to spend anything on me, when I was growing up. They have spent zero for my college. I saved them a lot of money. How about they buy me one? A black Chrysler 300 please.
Some might say I'm an adult, and should earn/buy my own car, but blkbox and I think alike- I'd rather compel someone to give me a gift.

1)safety features
Many of the safest cars on the road are not luxury cars, though some are. To buy a luxury car because of this would be, in my opinion, idiotic.
2)more job opportunities
What? You think that your employer is going to ask you what kind of car you drive? How will they even know? Furthermore, you really think that an employer would make a hiring decision based on who drives a luxury car, rather than who is most qualified? You have a lot to learn about the real world...
3)wider social interactions
Only the most shallow, petty, and boring people will pick their friends based upon who drives a luxury car. If that's how your friends are, then you need to make some better friends.

My point: First, I hope that this is a joke. If it is not, then I hope that you gain some perspective. Life isn't about the car you drive, and if you expect mommy and daddy to pay for everything, then you will never learn to take care of yourself. Cut the umbilical cord.

I agree....I hope this is a JOKE...a big one. Buy your own car. And remember that the maintenance on a $40K car is going to be a LOT more pricey than on a Honda Civic or the like.

It's a car, for heaven's sake.

I seriously doubt you are going to get too many parents to help you "get your parents to buy you a $40K car". Perhaps the high school forum will give you more ideas....since the college students in College Life are basically telling you the same thing the parents are telling you...a $40k car is NOT necessary.

sounds like he/she is planning to live in the car. Spending that much on a car probably leaves little for rent and utilities...

If you need your car to provide you with "accommodations," you should really be looking at an RV, or at least a conversion van.

Unless by "accommodations," you mean things like preferential seating, extended time for tests, and a set of books for home....

I'm guessing that at $40K, the op is looking for leather seats, moonroof, full power, heated seats (in CA??), and maybe a chauffeur
