Thank goodness, no. S's dad and I are separated and without getting into a long story, not having to deal with him on this is a real blessing.

I can't believe we are just two weeks from January 1! My taxes are ready to go, as soon as I get a couple of minor forms. If i don't have it all together by Jan 5 (first day to e-file 1099), then I'll estimate on FAFSA and get back to it when I have everything.

I made a spreadsheet the other day of all the FAFSA codes, deadlines and any additional apps or forms needed. I think I am as ready as I can be.

MaCapella, congratulations to your daughter. My D in similar situation; received ED acceptance to her first choice yesterday - Kenyon College. In my D's case, she went against advice of every adult in her life. Held out on completing RD apps to other schools on her list until she heard from Kenyon. Guess she had more insight than we did; the dream prevailed. It is done and she is over the moon!

Ho ohiobassmon - re the fasfa, they have a phone help line and they really are extremely helpful. They talked me through a couple of sections, friendly and courteous.

Congratulations Collcon01! May I ask how your daughter was notified of her acceptance at Kenyon? We were told that letters were mailed yesterday. It's hard to wait! Thanks.

To tennismom1

D got the traditional big fat envelope with a purple thumbs up on it via USPS. I don't know if she was also notified on the goto.kenyon.com site; she was so excited she forgot to log in and look. The Kenyon website indicates letters were to mailed on Dec. 15, but since my D got hers on that date I wonder if it is because we live in Ohio. Perhaps her envelope arrived earlier than those sent out of state - ? I know how hard it is to wait and I feel for you and your kid. Fingers (and toes) crossed!

tennismom1 -- A girl at my kids' school got her Kenyon acceptance yesterday as well. Not sure of the delivery method. We are also in Ohio.

collconf01--My D was the same with Beloit. In early October, she made a compelling case to wait and do any RD applications until after she heard from Beloit. I'm relieved that it worked out. She is now wandering around the house going "Guess what-- I'm going to Beloit."

Thanks GeminiMom. We are on the east coast so I think we will end up hearing from Kenyon on Monday or Tuesday. This will be a long weekend...

WooHoo

DD was accepted to Brandeis yesterday via email. It was pretty neat they way they did it. They sent an email with a link to thier application status page. When she clicked on the page and logged in their was a Congratulatory message. Nice.

Celebrating in our house today! D received her acceptance to University of Michigan. It was her 1st choice and she is thrilled. I'm thrilled because all of the U Mich gifts purchased for Christmas don't have to be returned :-)
