| Acceptances: Celebrate, discuss, support here
Good news is already coming in, so here is the Big Thread where parents, students, or delighted observers can come and share their good news, and everyone can rejoice. This is also the place to discuss both happy and disappointing news, and to support each other in the best manner of a community like this one. There are already some acceptances, so congratulations and keep 'em coming.......

Wow, already!!!
It is so cool that some of you have acceptances in hand already. Most I know don't even have any applications submitted yet, LOL.
So, YAY rightwing, Lderochi's son, and Mootmom's Son!!!
You're the front runners and started off the big acceptance thread this year. Woot woot!
May there be many runners to come crossing the finish line.........

Wow from me, too. And to all you moms and dads whose seniors haven't even noticed that it's application season yet.... DO NOT DESPAIR. They will wake up some day soon when you least expect it and shift into first gear.

Jmmon is so right. Lots of kids don't get galvanized until deep in October, or November or....no matter how much their parents have fretted or lectured. Have faith in them and find your duct tape....

Now, did you mean duct tape for the parents' mouth or duct tape them to the chair to do the apps? |

Rolling admissions are wonderful things, as are "preferred" applications that come in the mail. Of course, only if the kid is sincerely interested.

soozievt....one of the things I value about duct tape is it's multivalent character......infinite uses all in one sturdy roll.
and i think there is poetic wisdom in my 200th post being about the very condition i was in when i first found this site (ie: will he EVER get going on this important task?...)

Congratulations to lderochi's S, mootmom's S, Rightwing, SpringfieldMom's D, LEDad's S, and OhioGolfer's S who have received acceptances already. I SO remember this time last year when the hustle and bustle of the college application process was in full swing. Try not to stress ... easier said than done, I know. Good luck to all ... may each of you receive good news soon! |

fredo, I just saw the news that your son was accepted at Purdue, too! Believe me when I say that I know how this feels... in so many ways. Congrats.
It's wild to see some fine acceptances so early, congratulations everyone! Is it too early to agitate for a "Final Decisions" thread? |

Cogratulations to all of you on your children's achievements.
I'm fairly knew here (although I lurked for some time) and feel like I know you all through your stories - jmmom's anxiety for S after Katrina, soozievt's D college admissiones success, lderochi's being with an "l" and not with an "I". Hey, I love you, guys. Congrats again, and keep those acceptances coming!

Why, thank you, Old Campus. Welcome to your new "de-lurking" status. Congrats to all the new acceptances. Purdue Boilermakers seem to have the early lead here .

My S got into the honors program both at IA State and Univ of IA. IA state offers a full ride provided he becomes a National Merit Finalist and designates them as first choice. (He has to apply for the Presidential Scholarship at IA.) Using this "bird in hand" as the benchmark has allowed us to take some schools off his list, and to focus on those where we could make an argument for spending serious money.

Congratulations, Kanakaishou! And with a possible full ride, too! Hop on over to the "Master List of Acceptances" thread (just below this one ) and add your S to the list, we'll be watching for more good news from you!
