Parents Brag Sheet --- Help!!!!

I need to do a Parent's Brag Sheet for my son. Can anyone tell me what exactly they said in their brag sheets. My son is an average student and he never participated in sports or extra curricular activities in school even though we tried to convince him to. He is really a little on the shy side and laid-back. He played basketball with your town youth basketball team a few years back, but was not an outstanding player. In other words, he kind of just went with the flow of things..... Besides the fact that he never gave us trouble except for the regular stuff like coming in past his curfew once in a while or not taking out the trash, or not cleaning his room regularly, I really don't know what to say on this brag sheet. He definitely wants to go to college, but not far away from home because he says he doesn't want to be too far away from his friends and family. Any suggestions????

For the parent's brag sheet you are looking for things the counselor might not or definitely does not know about your child. For instance, my son routinely helped the other kids from his wrestling team with homework...I put it down on the brag sheet and the counselor mentioned it in her rec....so I would emphasize that this is a kid who "goes with the flow", does he have younger siblings he helps with? is he co-operative around the house? in the absence of ecs I would look for the things that are not obvious...personality traits where you can emphasize his genial nature...

Has he held part-time jobs or summer jobs? Add those, if so, including such things as lawn mowing, snow shoveling, babysitting. If not, what does he do with his free time? (As a mom of son, I realize it could be entirely spent on Worlds of Warcraft ). But, even if so, you can mention that he has interest in computers or whatever.

what postive attributes differentiate your son from other kids at the school? Does he attend church regularly, help out the neighbor, have a close relationship with a grandparent, loves to take long walks, enjoys swing dancing, etc.

if your son is not applying for a competitive school, the letter the GC writes won't count for much unless it is negative. His grades and test scores will be what gets him admitted, so don't worry too much about this.

Little to add to this, except, this is your own mini-recommendation for your son. Try to think of some single words that describe him in a positive way, then specific incidents, actions or activities that illustrate these words.
