Yes, yes, and yes ! I still can't quite wrap my mind around the concept - though last night was the first time I didn't log on to CC in recent memory. And congrats on Anherst!!!

Now I'll have to find another excuse for not getting anything done around here. Though I intend to follow the stories of the other class of 2008 kids with great interest.

Hey Frazzled1 I happened upon your post by accident on this snowy snowy morning, and wanted to say major congratulations to your amazing daughter!! I told mine, who is happily lounging around watching reruns of America's Next Top Model, and her reaction was a VERY enthusiatic "SWEET!!!" Savour the joy in your house today. I know through my daughter how long yours has wanted this outcome. Yay!!!!

frazzled - stumbled on this post - congrats on your D's acceptance from a W&M grad who graduated 31 years ago. I was accepted ED and can still remember the excitement. It is still one of my favorite places in the world. Good luck to her.

nydance and cartera, thanks for your nice posts, both of which brought tears to my eyes (not that it's difficult considering my perimenopausal state, but still ). nydancemom, I know your d has received some well-deserved acceptances from great schools as well, so congrats and best wishes for several more!

My nephew has received acceptances from the following

U of Arizona (OOS)
St. John's (NY) plus $10,000
California State U Chico
St. Mary's California

He has an auditory processing disorder and attended a really tough Catholic prep school where he took four years of honors classes and finished just under a 3.0 but w/ strong SATs so we are thrilled with the acceptances...he's still waiting to hear from Loyola Marymount!

Hey: I've been accepted to the Universities of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Wisconsin-Madison, and Washington-Seattle so far. Michigan was one of my top choices, but I'm holding off on making a decision until I hear from the rest. Congrats to all!

Haha frazzled, I will be the last one in my family as well
But instead, by mother has the Empty Nest Syndrome. I'm surprised that there are moms who don't have this. I thought it was a common symptom? :P

Empty Nest Syndrome is definitely common, and I expect I'll have a whopping case next August. I'm not relieved and happy at the thought of her leaving home - just the thought of being done with all the college stuff. Compartmentalization!

My older D got into LMU, even though her stats weren't wonderful. She has ADHD and had struggled throughout H.S. However, she is a coxswain, so I think that helped.

ANYWAY LMU is a wonderfully supportive environment for students with learning disabilities.

I'm so jealous! Son hasn't even sent in a single private school application, and he won't find out about the UC's until March. Luckily, it doesn't seem to bother him.

I wanted to briefly share my experience with other parents who may go through a disappointing application cycle with their children. My D only got into her safeties when applying for a freshman spot. As a Spring transfer, the acceptances just keep rolling in...so far UVA, William and Mary, BC. She goes to her dream school next month. So for those parents with students interested in pursuing a transfer, I feel it may be worth considering giving it the old college try if the existing college does not turn out to be a good fit!

What a long strange trip this has been. Not sure where I have heard that before? I think I have been more nervous for my daughter than I ever was for myself. Last year we did all the tours, read tons of info, and she was convinced she had it all mapped out. She was going to apply to Wake Forest as soon as her Jr year was over. That time came and went and still no application went out. She doubted herself, knew others who were rejected, cried over her SAT's & ACT's, and finally sent in her ED app. by the deadline in Nov. Today it all paid off and she was accepted to Wake Forest, her number one choice. We are so proud of her. She will be the first from her high school to attend Wake.
