| Update: Accepted at Northwestern!
I went there my first two years. Husband went all four years. He's thrilled. We're both terrified the aid won't be enough to make it feasible. Still waiting. |

| Cogratulations! I really hope the money works out.
Update here; In at Berkeley! She's loving Duke though, and unless we can find some cell phone service here at Yosemite, D won't find out for a few more days. |

| Shrinkrap,
Congratulations on Berkeley. My S also appears to be loving Duke. We are going to have to pray over the finances if he decides to attend. He also has two letters that arrived today, one from Boston College and the other from Williams College. ( I do not know how we are going to be able to wait until Sunday for them to be opened). Stay tuned!
Texasmama,
Congratulations on Northwestern. I also hope the money work out. |

| Congratulations Shrinkrap. As for baby names, William Raspberry of the Washington Post wrote a very interesting column on the names that new AA parents select for their babies a few years ago. He was fairly (but not too harshly) critical. It got a lot of us thinking. Too many parents ARE going overboard. But, as the saying goes, "this is America." |

| Thanks Harmony. And did you know that if you put an envelope in microwave for about 45 seconds with a cup of water, it will steam open the seal?
Learned that in a hint from Heloise. (Smile) |

| Thanks all. The envelopes are big so I am hoping these schools would not be so cruel to write a rejection letter in a big envelope. DS will return home on Sunday so I will wait!!! |

| Congrats Shrink, Texas! Harmony, you're a better woman than I! I'll be trying T-mom's little Heloise trick the very next opportunity I get!
I know this is a college site, but I've an update on little d. We're just back from Roswell, NM (scifi heaven) where we took a peek at NMMI. It's apparently the nation's only state-supported military boarding school. The facilities, ECs and academic offerings were awesome! To my shock, baby d LOVED the school & passed the entrance exam w/flying colors. Looks like we'll be shipping off both kids come August.
Texasmama, the only way to Roswell is through Dallas, and BOY do y'all Texans know how to build a shopping mall! Don't know if you're anywhere in the vicinity, but WOW(!!) to the Grapevine Outlets and the Dallas Galleria! We had to buy additional luggage.
p.s. I don't recall who posted the link to the federal judge ruling -- but that was RIDICULOUS (in the "hip", "phat" sense of the word). Older D, who can't stand my CC addiction was reading over my shoulder until she just couldn't stay vertical. She was literally rolling on the floor laughing! Thanks for the gutbuster! |

| Congrats everyone! I have an update too.
D1, who as far as I can tell, just had her name invalidated by the federal judge ruling (I haven't sent her the link yet, but I know it'll make her laugh, thanks), just scored a paid graduate internship at UNC Medical Center for the summer -- emphasis on paid, Lol (works for me).
D2 just got accepted to Wake Forest and UVA today.
Very exciting time. Now, all we have to do is solve that little issue of paying tuition for D2. |

| FLVADAD,
Congrats all around in your house. In spite of the name thing, sounds like you, madville and the gang are having one of those "try me" moments.
You know the one, the part of sunday morning service, when the preacher tells the tithers "try me and see if I won't pour you out a blessing that you will not have room to receive."
First Mr. Tubbz, then Madville, then this thread (t-mama, shrinkwrap, harmony, and the rest of the gang) it is great to see so many blessings come flowing. Here's to hoping that everyone cup overflows!!
Congrats to all |

| Supermom,
We Texans do love to shop. Given the financial aid packages I've seen so far, I think it may be years before I get to go to the mall again. Especially if my D goes North. she will need an entirely new wardrobe. I, on the other hand, will be getting my shoes reheeled! |

| Good Afternoon!
The kid just came back from "Weekend at the Mecca". Four days for the accepted Laureate Scholars at Howard. Aside from the fact that I missed her much, she had a great time!
She is looking forward to going to Howard in the fall. The 4 days there just validated to her that she made the right decision. : )
And shopping...now that we don't have to pay tuition, I told her she could spend up to 1 month of tuition on a new wardrobe lol. Ladies, start your engines!!! |

| Well, we're done. Yale was a "no-go" and H was doing the "happy dance." That's because now D's fully committed to the full ride and there's nothing getting in the way of him struttin' around the family reunion bragging about how he paid D's entire college tuition himself (the price of the deposit). *rolling eyes* REALLY, now! |

| New wardrobe will definitely get some "play" at Howard , Silvermoonlock, good choice! Super Mom, I love that dance! Enjoy! Maybe you two could send some money my way?
Latest update is acceptance to Pepperdine. How different is THAT from Duke? D regaled us with many tales of drunken debauchery after her weekend there, but she still feels it's number one (of 14 acceptances !) ...well I don't know if she knows about Pepperdine yet. Shhhhh!. |
