Two years ago my daughter got the same email from CSM - in fact, she was busy and they sent it repeatedly. She did the application online the night of the deadline!
She got accepted and even visited - nice school.
My take - they already "know" they have a good candidate - they just need the application and transcripts.

D got one from Drew, and she's a junior! It offered an application fee waiver ($50) and "a non-binding decision and early merit scholarship consideration". They must think she's a senior - maybe I should email them to let them know she's a junior and will be applying next year... or maybe not because right now D says she only wants to go where it's warm.
I don't see anything to lose by using these applications, and if you get several, the fee waivers will add up...

This week, Tulane and Washington College arrived via snail mail, University of Vermont, Drew and Hood via email. Rensselaer came, but no fee waiver.
Thanks again, everyone, for your responses.

Yea, it sounds stupid but I love getting these. It feels like collecting baseball cards or something.
To date, I've received Tulane, RPI, and University of Portland. I'm glad I didn't fill out RPI, because of the whole fee waiver -- or rather the lack of one. Tualne and UoP both have them though. I only actually considered one of these schools before. This makes the process of applying a lot easier because I just have more options if I get in. Props to the admissions officers doing these.

the College of Wooster has a priority application. i recieved one, but didn't fill it out as i was already pretty much done with the Common App o_o
there was no application fee for the priority one, but also there wasn't a fee if you filled out all your materials and submitted them through the Common App website.
so overall, while the priority application was a bit shorter and i wouldn't have had to write an essay of the length i did, there's really no advantage over the other i guess.

I got a lot of smaller colleges this Monday, most notably Northern Arizona University. I heard Washington University went out? If anyone got that that would care to list GPA/ACT/SAT scores that would be cool.

I looove getting those priority apps. It sounds pathetic I guess, but I feel better about myself knowing SOMEONE "wants" me. I've gotten them from Drexel, Fordham, Tulane, York, a " direct conection" app from Wake Forest, St. John's, Siena, RIT, Drew, and UVM. Georgia State called today and said they were sending a priority one soon.
