| Only One School Left
DS has heard from 5/6 of his schools, great scholarships at each. This week Juniata with a wonderful scholarship that was quite a suprise! Spent a great deal of time talking with our admissions couselor and then with a local alum. It is the only one we have not visited so we will make plans for spring break. Only waiting for Allegheny. He has a Cincinnatus scholarship weekend in February and lots of choices to make, but at least they are good choices.

murmur - my D is the flip side of your S, has heard from Allegheny but not Juniata! I am glad you are going to visit Juniata, it is a great place. She got the scholarship letters from both Allegheny and Wooster today, but she is still waiting on a few more...

My daughter just got her 1st acceptance (didn't do any ED/EA). Her #1 choice, Alfred University for the School of Art and Design, plus the President's Scholarship. Hooray!
3 more schools to go, but Alfred is her #1, so it's doubtful she'll change her mind. If only financial aid wasn't such a worry...

My D got into Quinnipac, UNH, and St Mikes.
She is still waiting to hear from her ED11 school.
She got wait listed at 2 others and still has 5 more to hear from.
If she doesnt get into her ED school, she really has no particular school she likes more than any others. I guess we will wait and see.
Good luck to all.

| USC Acceptance
My son got the "fat letter" from USC yesterday. How quaint that they use regular snail mail rather than email. He thinks he heard early because he's in the running for a merit scholarship. Has anyone ever heard that?

Youngest D got her ED good news from Pomona in Dec. She is the only one of our three that did ED so for the other two, the time between Jan and April final decision was very stressful. This Dec. 15th came and went and I knew from postings on CC that some students had got their notices on that Monday. So, by Thursday I was pretty discouraged and our D was home very sick with a stomach virus (not pretty). It was great when my husband called from the post office saying a large white envelop has arrived for D. So we were both here when she got the news. A few days later, as we were communicating with the Pomona FA office about her grant, she also found out that she got a full-ride in the honors program at our state flagship. That proud moment was both a blessing and a curse to her as we had to seriously consider that offer. However, Pomona's grant aid was reasonable,we are frugal and knew that private tuition was on the horizon, so she is going to Pomona. Still hard to say no to such a generous offer at such a good school knowing that once that offer is declined, it is gone for good. But we know she has worked hard to achieve Pomona's acceptance and believe she will meet and exceed the expectations we have for her continued hard work and success at Pomona. Will write again in four years and let you know how it went. So, now I am just haunting CC for the heck of it....

^^ congrats to momgeh50 and D! You cannot go wrong at Pomona- such a great accomplishment just getting in! WHOOOOOOO!!
Pomona is such a great school. We visited there from TN last Nov (D interviewed) and were SO impressed with school, DORMS, students, etc. For our D it is her #2 choice (after Vanderbilt). We applied RD, due to fincial aid unknowns, so we are waitning it ourt until April. She did apply to 3 other schools with EA or rolling admissions, and has been accepted at all three so far, one with a great FA package. So, the pressure is off, 'cause she will go the the EA school if she does not get in (or gets very little $) from her top choices.
Congrats again!

S accepted ED to Cal Poly SLO in Aerospace Engineering; by far and away his first choice over any other school on the planet. However, chronic Senioritis has set in . . . the danger of ED.

Congrats to your son, gotpeter. Mine got in ED to Cal Poly SLO as well. Ironically enough, his first semester senior year grades were the best ever. It sure would have lowered my stress level (not his, ha!) if he'd had as strong of a GPA the other 3 years. This semester S is completely consumed by his robotics club so homework seems to have gone by the wayside.

Congrats to all! And thanks for your feedback Melbert. About Pomona, I hope your d gets in and finds the FA offer to Pomona as reasonable as we did. Good luck!

| SO HAPPY! S accepted to NCSU College of Engineering!
I feel like an 18 wheeler has been lifted from my sholders. After a deferral fron UNC my son has been accepted to NC State College of Engineerng. He was excited and it made me smile. He has several other acceptances, but is so impressed with the department at NC State! For me...I'm so happy he will be very close to home, so our family can enjoy being fans of the Wolfpack!
Time to work on those scholarship applications!

Hi first time poster, long time reader. So far its been good news... favorite is St. Mike's in VT, Ithaca a close second. waiting to hear from from one more and a very sad deferral from Goucher. She's hoping that will change, but we doubt it will come with money like the rest have, Congrats to all.
