Class of 2013 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

Since the good news is already coming in, we have recreated the Big Thread where parents, students, or delighted observers can come and share their good news, and everyone can rejoice. This is also the place to discuss both happy and disappointing news, and to support each other in the best manner of a community like this one. There are already some acceptances, so congratulations and keep 'em coming.

Congrats to cangel's S and TheMom's S2! There is nothing better than having those early and rolling admissions in hand, to make the senior year a calm one.

Great to hear the good news. And, like others, I am stupefied to see it so early... but that is just great.

As a new member to CC, I'd like to thank those of you who posted the wise advice to encourage our kids to apply early to schools with rolling admissions. Our D1 was accepted this week to both ASU and LSU. As I posted on another threat, her guidance counselor told her she is the first student in her class of over 350 to already have an acceptance! It is great to have her two safety schools in the bag and now she can focus on her applications to her match and reach schools.

Two fun choices already. You will so appreciate the lack of angst in your home as the months go by!

What many of us are dying to know.......Are schools giving out any merit aid with their acceptances? Only one person mentioned a scholarship so far. Last year many of us listed merit aid on our master list of acceptances.

Our D1 was notified this week that she has been awarded the Blue & Gold Level One scholarship at WVU - $3,000/year. She was thrilled. Every little bit helps.

I'd forgotten about this thread. Son accepted to Missouri S&T with great scholarships (bringing it down to in-state tuition level) and Rose-Hulman (with at least a small scholarship-will hear definitely later). I love rolling decision colleges!

My Daughter Received Her First Acceptance Today!

Whew! I don't know who is happier, me or her. She received her admission letter today, coincidentally from the first college she visited this summer. She doesn't have to reply until May 1st, so she can wait and see what Financial Aid brings her (we haven't filed the CSS and FAFSA yet), but this is great news--a big event for a high school senior, for sure. I watched her all the way as she opened the envelope, and watched her grin from ear to ear as she read the letter to us.

She applied to nine other schools. She'll hear from another one some time between mid-December and Inauguration Day. The remaining eight won't respond until March 31-April 1st, but this is a big load off her mind to receive her first college admission letter. A truly Happy Thanksgiving is in order for next week!
