Now, y'see how that works? Mom4college is on campus, completely enthralled and involved. But does she ever write or call us? NO!
OK, she promised: "More later!" We'll see.
Tick, tick, tick...my digital clock is moving slowly forward. Hope she's having a blast. Poor me.
No, wait, Thursday is garbage day so I'll go bring in the recycle bin. That'll give me something to write to her about...IF she ever remembers us here. Sniff. , , to Mom4college and all her cohorts this year.

P3T-
Survived (happily) orientation at UB. My first visit. I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed with the school.
My husband and I went to N.Falls and just had fun. (No need to orient us as this is S2 so we were on our own. Anchor Bar (no wings here though), etc...
We passed 3 synog. and thought of you each time!!!
Sons roommate is from Buffalo.
Dentist today. Left stuff up there at orientation and will focus on packing the rest for our flight after S1 flies off to Miami on Saturday.
Will be empty nest and missing my boys. Can't imagine being able to leave S2 though it is so exciting for him and he can't wait. He is so ready.

Archiemom-
LOL @ post #13!!
Amazing difference in feeling this (soph) yr vs last. This yr left it up to DS to organize, pack, etc, and he... did it. He's off with friends tonight and we are off in the morning.

^^Year 3 is even better. 4 days until classes begin. Hope he knows where the stuff is he wants to take with him. Small glitch today as the two couches he is taking for the rental house are in grandma's barn loft. Grandma had the nerve to have the blacktop drive to barn repaved today without telling him--no access to couches. Ahh, this too shall pass; not my problem.
I have come so far--I had to have been in the running for Most Panic Stricken Mother of Freshman two years ago.

If the word awesome is in the text, turn off the phone - pour a drink of your choice, put your feet up and relax.
You aren't done, but you have some breathing room this week...

Dropped of my D1 yesterday. Expected to be a basket case, but I really wasn't - surprisingly. I only cried when I wrote her a note (provided by the college, to be distributed first day of classes), and when I actually hugged her and said my final goodbye. If I hadn't cried at that point, she would have thought some alien had taken over her mother's body, since I am notorious about crying over sentimental things. (Seeing the word "final" there is making me tear up.)
The drive home was also much better than expected. I only cried when I talked to a couple of friends on the phone who asked how I was doing.
I think I had also talked myself into "cheerleader" mode. Plus D was just so excited...

Just spent the evening with BIL and SIL. Dropped off both twins in two hours. Totally crazy, feel like it all happened in a dream. Will try to help them decompress!

Got back late last night from DD drop off. The youngest so now when DS goes back at the end of August we are officially empty nest.
The drop off was quick. Spent about two hours total. moving things in while DS built a bookcase. Went to Target and Sears for a few items. When we came back roommate was there and DD clearly needed us to leave. The quickest hug and we were off. She didn't even come back out to car two feet away to say goodbye to her brother.
When we were all three in the room and building bookcase was happening I joked that it was a good thing roomie wasn't in the room because it was already too crowded.
Hard to imagine how the extended family on the other post is going to fit.
Although we did see some large families including one who brought two small dogs~

With his Jetta packed to the gills, our oldest son set out today on his 7½ hour drive back to campus. He's so excited to get back to his friends and to his new off campus apartment. It's hard to believe that he's a senior and will be graduating in the spring.
Our youngest son (a sophomore) will head back to his school in another week. This year, he'll pack up his car and make the drive himself. Luckily, he only has a 3½ drive.
I think back to when they were starting their freshman year and we were teary eyed and worried about how they would adjust. Now, H and I do the "happy dance" when it's time for them to go back to college. |
