Congrats..I have one of those kids. There were many times in h.s. that I thought college was not in the cards for him. He's a soph. at a regional state u. now, finally seems to be getting the hang of it. Best of luck to your S.

Thanks everyone for your positive thoughts - he's very relieved and happy and, I have to say, proud of himself - it was really a struggle at times (he has ADHD and was overmedicated for a long time). He was accepted at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff - a beautiful place and a good school. For those of you still waiting - have faith! It will happen!!!!

Congrats, and thanks for the message from the Real World!
I remember when S'07 got his first acceptance, it was from his safety but it was truly a relief to know he had a place to g.

Congrats!!!
It is soooo reassuring when you receive that first acceptance letter.
BTW...some schools don't ask/wait for test scores, because they accept the test score "stickies' that are placed on high school transcripts. The stickies are score strips that the high school receives after your child takes an SAT or ACT. The school then places the sticky on your transcript. For some colleges, that's good enough for them.

| OMG, I've always harbored the secret desire that one of my kids would want to go there. I've heard that instead of a semester abroad, some students do a semester at the Grand Canyon. How cool is that?

Thanks for posting, and congrats to S.
I was going to add to this, as (current college junior) S had a 3.2 going into HS senior year. Moved to a new high school and pulled out a 2.8 or worse for the final year. The point is-- I went to the document binder to find out what his gpa actually was, and I can't find anything with it (nothing!).... and NO ONE cares.....
post script-- same kid has been on the Dean's list since he arrived at college.
