How are decisions communicated?

Are students notified by email, snail mail or online? If online, are they sent an email telling them to log in and check their status?

Decisions are posted online. You don't get an e-mail alert, so you just need to keep checking. Shortly thereafter, you'll get an official acceptance via snail mail.

I actually found out last year by the 'big white envelope' in the mail (which doesn't mean you've gotten into UP-everyone gets the big white envelope I think) before it was posted online.

No, actually my 'rejection' letter came in a big, thick white envelope. It said I was welcome to come to Penn State--at any other campus besides University Park haha. The brochures go into their wonderful 2+2 program.

I eventually appealed my decision and am now a very happy freshman in Happy Valley!!!
