I thought I would post this in the PSU section since I did in a regular thread a little while ago...
Recently, a photo was taken for the PSU MT alumni newsletter which had 9 PSU alums that are currently in Broadway shows (Hairspray, Grease, Gypsy, Spelling Bee...and soon to be Grinch, Xanadu, A Chorus Line). It marks the largest number of alums in Broadway shows at one given time. Very exciting! Especially since our program is just now gaining so much momentum in NY.
My graduating class (MT 2007) is doing extremely well:
-1 is currently in XANADU on Broadway
-2 just finished up summer seasons at Music Theatre of Wichita and both earned their equity cards for principal roles in multiple shows.
-1 just finished up her second season at Pittsburgh CLO and played a principal role.
-1 was the lead in HS MUSICAL at North Shore Music Theatre (with 2 other PSU alums!)
-1 is leaving in a few weeks to start rehearsals for the international tour of West Side Story!
-1 just left to do shows at North Shore MT and then Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret
**One of the current students graduating this coming year was in the ensemble of GYPSY with Patti Lupone.
This past spring marked the last year that Penn State showcased with Baldwin Wallace, Otterbein, and CCM Drama. Next year, Penn State will have its own showcase in NY! |
