PSU NYC Auditions Full!

My D called to arrange her NYC unified audition with Penn State today and they don't have any spaces left! She requested to be put on the wait list. All of their onsite MT audition times are also full.
I am looking at the cost of getting her to the Las Vegas auditions, and I can't see that happening, financially speaking.
If anyone has any advice, we sure would appreciate it.

Thanks!

I think I read last year that there were people canceling already scheduled auditions if they got word from other schools. If your D has her heart set on PSU, by all means get a slot in Vegas (just in case), but I would touch base with the scheduling office once some schools send out their Dec. EA & ED notifications (Elon, NYU etc.).

sualabama...Definately get on the waitlist for NY! Sometimes people don't show up for their time slot, and people do cancel on campus auditions. Don't worry--they will do their best to make sure you're seen!

We are very happy that indeed someone has cancelled their NY PSU audition, so my D has an appointment! We are relieved and thrilled. All I needed was to charge plane tickets to Vegas on my poor, weary credit card!! Whew!

I am so glad that worked out for you! There are always those who cancel. For instance, I know kids and have worked with kids who have an acceptance in hand early on to a school they would be happy to attend and have chosen to cancel some of their auditions at less favored schools on their list, thus opening spots up for others.

As I have been reading about PSU's audition process, it sounds very well organized and of course, very nervewracking. I will be auditioning for Penn State on February 3rd in NYC, and I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences or insight into how the auditions are run differently in New York compared to on-campus audition weekends? I am crazy excited!

Concerned about time at PSU audition in Chicago

Hi,

I have an audition set for PSU in Chicago, and I'm trying to coordinate other auditions. Do these run as scheduled, or do they tend to drift?

Thanks for any advice here.

They usually run on schedule. I work the Unifieds in NY and they pretty much run on time, or at least we try to so that we can be respectful to the other schools!
ErWill--I will see you at the NY Unifieds! Its a very laid back experience--at least we try to make it that way!! Both a classmate of mine, Natalie, and I will be monitoring this year. Be sure to introduce yourself!

psucat, nice to see you posting. Daughter (tiny Asian) and I wish we could stop in at unifieds just to say hello! Hope all is going well with you, post graduation. You and Natalie helped make her audition experience on campus last year so much fun and although in the end, she didn't choose PSU, she still feels it's a great program she would have been very happpy to attend! Recommends it all the time to younger friends!
