Joan,
I spoke with Cary this morning and the kids will be dancing first, then singing.

I am actually getting my headshots tomorrow morning (leaving in just a few minutes!) and then going home for the night in NJ. I don't think I will be seeing anything this weekend, unfortunately, but I was just spoiled last weekend with the BFA NY Trip ;o)

Can't wait to meet you Sunday! Please make sure you introduce yourself and your d!

So nice meeting you yesterday. My d loved talking to you. I know she would love the program. Well now only time will tell. She felt her audition went well. The only thing she felt bad about is you won't be there next year. Best of luck, have fun at your audition.
Joan
You coming to L.A. next week?

PSUcat,

I also wanted to chime in to say what a sweetheart PSUcat is! She helped my daughter get a walk-in audition and my daughter was so impressed with everything she saw while at the audition! Thank you for all of your help!

psucat - you have a fan club! You're adorable and bright and a great ambassador for your school! Thanks for all the info yesterday, and I'm going to pm you for more insight into Penn State's philosophy on belting technique. My D auditioned early in her group, so she didn't have a chance to speak to you at length, but felt very welcome at her audition.

For anyone in NYC:

Did any of you get a callback after your audition?

I didn't, and none of the kids that went before me did. (I think I was 5th or 6th)

I hope I didn't scare anyone with my last question! Kaysmom now assures me that they didn't plan to do any kind of callback. Whew!

PSU Cat My d and I are also your fans, we've enjoyed meeting and talking to you at both the school and then seeing you at unifieds. PSU should pay you big time for being such a great ambassador and encouraging more of the best to go to your school. I know your mom is proud, she has every reason to be. Thanks for your help and encouragement. Maybe 4 years from now we'll ask you for different advice.

What a nice treat to come back from NY to! You were all so great at the auditions, and made my days fly sitting behind that table ) Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or want to talk about anything in more detail that I didn't cover at the audition. My email is cat190@psu.edu. I only wish I was travelling to the other cities with the faculty! Darn. I wasn't paid in dollars, but I was treated to dinner, a show, and a place to sleep all weekend by the faculty. I felt very spoiled!

Just to assure you, there was not a callback system at the Unifieds--there simply wasn't enough time. I know the faculty wished they could have spent more time with the students individually, but thats the fun of Unifieds I suppose--fast and crazy!

CA Griffin, I don't think any PSU alums will be out in LA to help out with the audition, but please do email me if you have questions about the program. I'd be more than happy to share what I did with everyone this weekend!

Monkey--I'm always a fan of you AND D, too ;o)

Hi Sporti,
I'm not PSUCat, but my daughter auditioned at PSU on Jan. 20th and Cary Libkin did answer that question. He said they anticipate auditioning over 350 kids and they hope to yield a class of 14. He said they would probably make about 20 offers to yield the 14. He said they do try to keep a gender balance more or less, so to expect about 10 girls and 10 boys to receive offers. He did say they use both a deferral (in which case a final decision would be made after all auditions are over when they have seen everyone) and a waitlist in which case you would only be called off the waitlist if their yield was too low from the original 20 offers and then they might go to that waitlist. Hope that helps! And good luck!
