Questions about Point Park/Temple/IUP

As the mom of a late bloomer into the MT process, I am learning so much from the posts on here. I just wish we had started this a year ago. Anyway after getting blown out of the water with our first school, we are now getting saavy and are using a voice coach and currently looking for an acting coach. I just don't know if he was a big fish in a little pond or that competition is fierce. Anyway here are some questions..
If you try out for MT, can they slot you in music or theatre if you dont make the cut?
Would the same go for Temple?
Does anyone know of the music programs at IUP? I know it is not on same level as these schools, but a good state school with music programs?

He is aksing for help with monologues-spent alot of time at Barnes and Noble.
What do think of these? From my understanding you should avoid "books" and read plays. we picked up Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Springs Awakening. I also picked up a monologue book just to have. He is also meeting with drama teacher to get some ideas. Can you get through these auditions well without a coach?

Also can you recommend second tier schools in ny/nj area? We are from PA and have applied to most of the second tier schools here and waiting/auditioning over next six weeks.

Does anyone know how Hofstra program is and the financial aid they may give?

So many questions and so little time....................Any help appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Point Park may offer acceptance in acting to students who audition in MT. They do not have a music degree, so that is not an option at PP. I don't know if Temple accepts people into alternate programs.

It is very important to know the entire play your monologue comes from. However, sometimes (especially since your son is late in the game)people work backwards - find a mono from a mono book, THEN read the play. Just make sure you are looking at monologue books where they all come from published plays, and aren't just written as monologues.

There are students who make it through this without having specific coaching; however, that depends both on the raw talent, and how valuable their acting experience has been thus far. (For example, if you've worked with an excellent director and you have good innate talents, you might be far more prepared without coaching than if the shows you have done have had so-so directors and staff.)

Acting Coach in Montgomery County Area

Hi its Blarney again,
Just a quick question. I got some great feedback from the top school we did not make it into and needs some professional coaching. I am having trouble locating someone in our area. If anyone has some suggestions for North Wales/Montgomeryville/Harleysville/Lansdale area, this would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me privately.
Once again, thank you for all your help, listening, and keep on singing.........

Hi. I'm new here. My daughter auditioned at PPU for the dance program last weekend. It was the last one for incoming freshman. If anyone has been through this process I'd appreciate any info. Lots of questions...how long before results come and any idea what type they look for? Do you know how many they let into the program?? Thanks for any help.
