Lodging Help ASAP!

We scheduled a visit for June 15...evidently there is a big sports event in town and the city and surrounding burbs are booked solid. Can any current students or residents suggest a place to stay? We are driving from the east and I don't mind staying to the east of P'burgh, but I am not driving to West Virginia for a hotel! THANKS!

Here are a few that are about 20 min away from Downtown.
Holiday Inn Express - 5311 Campbells Run rd. (412)788-8400
Four Points Sheraton - One Industry Lane - (724) 695-0002
Marriott Pittsburgh Airport - (412) 788-8800
Holiday Inn Airport - (412) 262-3600
These hotels are on the West side of town near the airport. It is a straight shot to downtown. I am not familar with the ones on the east side.

Try hotels in:

-Greensburg, PA or Irwin, PA (a 30-45 minute drive east of the city, but not really suburbs of Pitsburgh)
-New Stanton, PA (a bit further east)

If you are driving in from the east on the PA Turnpike, both of these areas are close to the Turnpike. Greensburg/Irwin is the exit just before Exit 57, which is the 1st Pittsburgh exit if you are coming from the east (Greensburg is a little further from the Turnpike exit but it has nice hotels), and New Stanton is the next exit further east.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tips...we were able to get a room right in the city, near the Cathedral of Learning...I think a block of rooms became "unblocked" at the last minute, because this place had been booked the first time I tried. And I got a corporate rate, too, so that helped. Part of the point of this visit was to sell my D on the city itself, and she really did like it. Next time we will stay out of town and save some $$$.
