Another thing--in case you have missed this discussion in the past--at PPU you are accepted into the BA program, not the BFA. After freshman year you audition to be in the BFA program. In actuality it SEEMS that the courses you take are the same (but double check!) for both paths. One student told us that getting the BFA label is a "vote of confidence" in the student. However, if you remain in the BA you do NOT have to leave the program and you still can be in shows and such. I would ask how that impacts participating in showcases in the senior year. I think I remember correctly that only BFA students can audition for participation in the showcases, but I am not certain about this.

I have a MT D at PPU and she is very happy and more importantly she is challenged and she is learning and growing a lot. She is a Sophmore and has been cast in one show this spring.

This year they did Streets of America, Thou Shalt Not and Assassins, all three were incredible. The talent at PPU is terrific.

She is one of the many sophmores who moved off campus to a house in Oakland very close to the theatre. She and her room mates use the bus mentioned above to get to campus. The area she is in is full of students.

One correction on auditioning for the BFA. The students are eligable during the spring semester of their sophmore year. It is very selective. The students are either accepted, asked to audition again next fall or next spring or asked not to audition again. Very few are accepted during their sophmore year.

Overall we have been pleased with the school and the MT education. As mentioned above, the academic education lacks a bit. I understand they do have arrangements with University of Pittsburgh to take classes if you want to be challenged a bit more in the classrooom.

One more thing...One of the teachers from the MT Dept. told us that they only have so many openings before accepted kids are put on the wait list. He said that the spots should fill up by mid April.
I do know that you can put down a deposit that is refundable...it might be a good idea of you are seriously thinking of going to PP. But, double check to comfirm this information...
