Point Park today made a major announcement of an ambitious plan for upgrading its downtown campus. Among the changes will be a new theater complex, new student center and gymnasium. Click on this link for more info The Academic Village at Point Park University
My son graduated from Point Park on Saturday with a BA in musical theater. He will spend the summer in Pittsburgh working as a tour guide on the Ducky Tours and then its on to New York in the fall.
I checked out the link posted about and couldn't find any set dates... Still planning? I think it's great that they're updating their facilities... but I don't think I'd want to be at a school that was being renovated all four years I was there. :-/
My daughter just returned from registration at Point Park. The current facilities will not be affected (she said they were really nice). The new Theater Complex should be ready for their senior year. She also reports that Jerry Mitchell has signed on to direct "Parade" next year!
I think I'm going to have a heart attack hearing the Jerry Mitchell news!! I'm a transfer, so I'm hoping to be able to audition for the Spring semester shows And if not, I really hope that he does some master classes!
i'm current ppu MT and sorry to disappoint you, but Jerry Mitchell is not directing Parade.
however, your D was in correct in the sense that the director has a connection to the OBC of Legally Blonde. The director is Michael Rupert who is a great friend to the ppu MT program. He directed our production of Ragtime in the fall of '06, which was listed as one of the 10 best shows (including professional regional and tours) in Pittsburgh that year.
we also did the world premiere of his new musical Streets of America this past season.
