Point Park Auditions

If anyone has any information on Point Park University's auditions, I'd appreciate it. My daughter received her appointment for her 10/21 audition and it was set for 3:00 PM. Unfortunately, we must catch a plane out of Pittsburgh Airport that leaves at 6:35 PM because she has a mandatory rehearsal the next day at 8:00 AM. That is the latest flight available. Can anyone tell me if it's reasonable to assume we will be done by 4:00 to 4:30 PM (enough time to catch a cab to the airport)? I have emailed the conservatory at PPU to see if we can change the appointment but if we can't I'm not sure what my other options might be other than forfeiting our tickets and driving, Yikes!

I'm pretty sure you won't be done in time. There's a Point Park student who frequents this board (Caroline) who is very helpful. Find the other Point Park thread here and email her, perhaps?

According to the notes I have based on our experience and others who went the previous year, the audition day at PP can take up to 5-6 hrs. Hope that helps.

Jordansmom, unfortunately I have to agree with chrism -- we were hanging out at PP for HOURS last year waiting for our D. We toured the school...had lunch...I went shopping...and there was still more waiting. Good luck!

We were told to plan to be there until 5:30. Maybe the dance audition is last; I'm not sure. We are catching a flight the next morning, but we're getting comp. tickets to a show that evening at the playhouse. Also, the appointment starts at 1:30 with a tour and info. session, followed by the auditions starting at 3.

I auditioned at Point Park last year in September, it was the first audition. I do believe you are auditioning on the first possible day also? Well b/c the audition is so early, I remember there were literally only 10 students auditioning that day (and some were for acting). So the auditions did go by really really quickly. However, the dance audition is LAST. Also, keep in mind that b4 the auditions happen, there is sign up, a tour, they also made us take a music theory test and talked to us for a while...... I don't think there is any way you will be done by 4:30. Basically, 3:00 is not really your daughters audition "slot." Call the school, they could give you an estimate of when you wil be done.

Hope this helps?

I just merged the new thread regarding Point Park Auditions with the recent thread on Point Park so that we keep lots of information on this one topic in ONE thread. This helps people find the information on that school. Also, it reduces duplication. The latest posts above have to do with Point Park Auditions specifically.

Good luck to the forum posters and/or their children going to the Point Park auditions coming up this week. This might be the first round of this year's group of kids going out. Break a leg!

thanks so much for the support everyone! It's so nice to have some positive encouragement. This is the second PP audition date, so I'm not quite sure how many to expect. I just know there was one in September if I'm not mistaken. Anyone go to the second audition last year?

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to see some acceptances for PPU posted here shortly! The first September MT auditioners were told 4 weeks til notification. My D did the first dance audition in September and was told 3 weeks (she hopes to major in Jazz dance there with minor in MT). My fingers are crossed for her and all of our CC kids who have the possibility of an early acceptance, what a comfort that would be for them, and what a relief for us! Best of luck to all our performers

OK, now this is freaky. Just got the mail and there are two envelopes from PPU. Of course, Mel is at dance til 2 PM today, so I have to wait....unless she picks up her cell phone to tell me it's OK to open them! Could be nothing, but then again... good thoughts everyone!

Hoping for good things for you and your D in those envelopes today! 2 envelopes sounds promising...it seems like it would only take one envelope to say no! Best of Luck!

It is a very good day for Mel. She has been accepted to PPU for Jazz Dance, with two big 4 year scholarships for both dance and academics. She also got a small 4 year scholarship for leadership and community service. All is well and we are JAZZED!

Again, hoping for good news for all of you here at CC!
