I'm with you, idno. I opened the small Pomona envelope knowing it was rejection. (C'mon acceptances are practically always in big envelopes.) I was a bit taken aback, but not "Omg, I'm going to lock myself in my room and cry my eyes out." Good thing I didn't have my heart set on the school?
I'm really happy that I got rejected (I understand this sounds silly, but hear me out). I was interested in Pomona for some superficial reasons like the beautiful campus and higher ranking and huge endowment, but that's not what would make me happy in college. Claremont Mckenna matches my goals and aspirations because they have one of the best government departments in the country, research institutes, and the athenaeum. Anyways, I'm happy that I don't have to choose between the two and I can be honest with myself finally because CMC is such a better fit. The Dean of Admission even wrote on my acceptance letter "Great job, Mark! Way to go! Very strong CMC fit."
Yay for you, Skyhawk! I got accepted to Scripps, but I'm happy to have been accepted to Wellesley, along with other wonderful colleges.
Congrats to all who were accepted! And for those who are in the same position as me, the fact that you even considered applying to a presitgious college like Pomona must mean that you have plenty of other awesome options.
