Don't worry about your name being there; admissions decisions are done! You were a lot of fun on the Wellesley board and, I too, was rooting for you to get into Pomona. Those comics are outstanding!
I wish we were going to be classmates (I chose to go to Bryn Mawr because ) but I wish you success wherever you go!

hey catsushi. I just wanted to let you know that i thought your comic was great. I definitely dont think that was the reason for your rejection. My friend who is asian applied to Rice university and in the "place an optional picture" box, she put an anime drawing and she was accepted. So, i mean, just because you did some drawing doesnt mean that it rubbed them off the wrong way. Perhaps it just wasnt meant to be, you know? You will be better off without them. Life is funny sometimes and, if you wait it out, you will see that things will eventually go your way, because, in the end, it always does. I was rooting for you, and I am really sorry it didnt work out. Good luck in your school choice.

PS. if you feel pomona is still your #1 school after you matriculate at your new school, then apply as a transfer.
Edit: P.S.S. Wellesley is a great school and you are going to love it. Look at what it did for Hillary Clinton! Its better than PC anyways.

Go to Wellesley or Scripps. Wellesley because it's awesome, and Scripps because it sounds like you need to be in Claremont.

I am going to be visiting my top three colleges soon so I can make the final decision. I'm so excited!

Congrats on making your final decision, froghorn! It's a shame that we may not be classmates, but I also wish you much luck at Bryn Mawr. Donjuan, Wellesley is ranked number 4 for being the best liberal arts college and Pomona is ranked number 5, according to US News. Other than that, both colleges seem to be equally strong. And that's so cool that your friend made a cartoon of herself, haha. I just sent my senior photo, hoping that maybe they'd see my pale skin as proof of my Russian-ness (just kidding). :P

Seriously, like the other poster said, it's their loss. :P From being your classmate in English, I know you'll be a great asset to any top school! It's really true that you're one of the most active discussants I know (and not just throwing in humdrum comments, but actual insights!)...as well as one of the most creative people at our school. That comic is brilliant (almost as awesome as the cow...mmm...now THAT was true greatness), and I can't imagine anyone NOT loving it.

I've decided to go to Wellesley College in Boston. It's far away from home, but that's what also makes it very appealing. East Coast, here I come!

Good luck to all those who are planning on attending Pomona or any other school!

Congratulations, catsushi.
I know that you had Whitman and Scripps as other options, what was the tipping point for you in favor of Wellesley?

Well I recently visited Wellesley's Spring Open Campus, and I made my decision after that. I sat in on two classes, Psych and Art History, and really liked them. All the profs I talked to were helpful, encouraging, and enthusiastic.

But the main tipping point, I think, was academics related. Wellesley has a strong Russian program, which I am interested in taking. Wellesley also offers Japanese, which I would also like to perhaps major in. Whitman does not offer Russian and only offers Japanese as a minor. Wellesley's alumni network is set up similar to some kind of mafia, and there are plenty of internships and job opportunities offered through the network. Location played a role, too. Boston seems like a thriving city with lots of opportunities, and I liked the idea of going across the country and starting something new.

When it came down to it, I felt that, for me, it was:

Whitman < Scripps < Wellesley

So to summarize, I felt that Wellesley had more opportunities for me.

Why?

On the other hand, my friend was accepted to Pomona but ended up going to Wellesley College, and she really loves it. I guess it really depends on the person, but I think I shall like it anywhere I go. :]

ya very true it does depend on the person. i guess i didnt enjoy the the all women environment, the weather (i'm from california) and the social life was not stimulating enough for me. but wellesley is a great college and i LOVED my professors there. they are all so helpful and approachable i really enjoyed taking classes. i'm sure you will enjoy wellesley. one piece of advice that i offer is go out to boston, cambridge or anywhere off campus as much as you can. wellesley can be isolating at times so it helps to get off campus. best of luck next year and i'm sure you'll have a great time there.

Thanks! I'm from the West coast, too, but I live in a pretty cold area so I think I'll be fine. And I'm definitely going to try to get off campus as much as I can, hopefully being on the swim team should help me with that.
