I JUST GOT IN OFF THE WAITLIST!!!!!!!! I live in SoCal if that helps. OMG, I'm so excited!!! Got a call today during lunch. Makes getting pwned on AP Calc this morning so much better
wait so they will be making more calls next week? is that how they notify you? ah gad!! oh god oh god. do they still contact you if they reject you?? i really want some closure
Yea I talked to the same lady and she said monday would be the day, but thats interesting that others have been notified already. I agree with wundershowzen. I just want some closure.
According to the NYT article just published, Pomona plans to take off 15-20 people off the wait-list. (see college admissions for article link) However this number could vary even more because of the large wait-list activity that is likely to happen at other top schools/ivy league.
The fact that so many of the top Ivies – Harvard, Yale, Columbia – are going to go deep into their waitlists is going to send a small tidal wave through all the selective colleges. Students will withdraw their current acceptances. Even schools that weren't planning to go to their waitlists at all, like Stanford, will now need to. Pomona's plan to wrap things up by Monday may change.
I know someone who got off the waitlist. His stats were good enough to get into Berkeley as well the first time around. Full-ride at both, so he has a difficult decision to make.
