Going into LA?

How often do students go into LA, and how easy is it to do so? Is it a popular weekend activity, or is it usually just if there's something specific (concert, etc.) to do?

Thanks!

It seems so far only really if there is a specific event to go to because it can take some time to get down there and back on the metrolink.

It really depends on the person's interests and whether they (or a close friend has a car). Metrolink is often convenient if you're going in for a "day trip", but if you're going in for a concert or event then sometimes the times don't match up so well. It also doesn't run all that late at night.

I went in to LA maybe once or twice in my first two years but I had some friends who went in nearly every weekend. After spending a summer here, I've learned to like LA a lot and I go in much more often. I also have a car now, which makes a HUGE difference.

So in general... it's popular with some and not with others. There's always so much going on on campus that I often just don't want to miss anything by going there!

This may seem silly but I'll ask anyway... some people have been telling me that Pomona is a wonderful school but that the air can be really smoggy in some months. Is it really noticeable? Does that ever interfere with athletics? Thanks for any help with the question!

I don't notice anything right now.

The only time the air quality was bad was the first two weeks, when the nearby wildfires were polluting the air (and athletics were canceled during that time).
