Scheduling pre-reqs

My current mock schedule for Spring 2013 has caused me a little bit of trouble. I'm taking my first Bio course this semester and ideally I should take the second one this Spring but right now I've got some schedule conflicts that have affected me from doing so. I know it's not the most viable option but is it okay to take something like Chem or Physics and just hold off Bio until next year, or do I have to take a certain field of science course concurrently?

And another question, if I take a science seminar that meets once a week for three hours but has no laboratory does that count for my sGPA?

You can certainly postpone the bio if you choose. There are no rules (at least as far as AMCAS and med schools are concerned) about how science sequences can be arranged. You should, however, check with your academic advisor to make your school has no issues with your scheduling.

RE: science seminar. Whether or not a course has an associated lab is irrelevant as to its classification as a science course. It depends on the how the seminar is listed on your transcript. Does it have Bio, Chem, Math or Physics designation?

Here is the official AMCAS course classification guide:
