Hi all.. I'm 23, I am a first year pharmacy student and the longer I stay here, the more I know this isn't for me- my interest lies much more in diagnostics and I want to do surgery. I know I will never feel fulfilled until I become a physician so this isn't really a question of "if", it's more of a "when". I graduated with a BS in Biochemistry, however my GPA was only a 3.0. I haven't taken the MCAT yet but will soon. Irrelevant, but I scored 93rd percentile on the PCAT - I test well. I have published research and a lot of patient experience. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I finish pharmacy school for the GPA and then apply the MD route? Should I see if I could get in now? Any other recommendations?
(Just for background, I am also a single mom. I'm not sure if that would count against me, but I have an excellent support system to help me through it. Again, not a question of "should I".)
