Hi everyone! I am a freshman at Lawrenceville and the first couple weeks have already passed. I am here to answer any questions that anybody could have! I remember my experience last year going through the application process. Hope I can help.

Are the dorms at Lawrenceville nice? Are the dances fun? What are typical weekend activities? Is there a good town near the school?

The academics are not very hard for me so far but winter term will be a lot more difficult I heard. It varies from person to person and everybody came from a different background and experience in the subjects. I feel like Spanish is a bit difficult for me since at my old school it was a lot easier. I work very fast especially during a time where studying is the only option. We have study hall from 8:15 to 10 and I always finish my homework during that time. I know some people who use their free periods to do it also. Depending on your teachers you could get more or lesser homework.

I am in Perry Ross but it doesn't make a big difference since Cromwell is in the same building. I think they are pretty nice. The furniture and bathrooms are old but aren't the worst. The dances are very fun, we have only had one so far but it was great! Saturdays are the fun days. We have usually dances or other fun activities at night and a feed following it. A feed is food that is brought by somebody who signed up to sponsor it. Princeton is really close, a lot of people take the local bus and go there during the weekends to shop or have dinner.

I would say the best part is meeting new people and experiencing so many new things. I joined some clubs that I look forward to participating in and the academics are challenging. The classroom also helps somebody who may be shy participate a lot more since discussions occur almost daily.

If it's not to personal, could you just let us know what you're grades and ECs were looking about? And sports? You don't have to be all detailed and whatever, and I know that this is not the magical key to getting in, but I'd just let to get a general idea as to what they look for...

Hey guys, I'm a freshman at Lawrenceville too.
@Bookie101 My grades were all As and my ECs/ sports were orchestra (first chair), piano for 12 years, tennis, softball, basketball, and a community service club and math club.
The general idea of what they're looking for is, well I'm not sure, but I think they're looking for a good community of diverse students with different talents and backgrounds.

@Futureboarder Well, lights out is at 10:40 and most people go to sleep by then because the internet is shut off by then haha.

I am applying for Lawrenceville next year ( I am a freshman also, and I want to go to Lawrenceville because I believe my school's academics are not vigorous enough allowing me to have the oppurtunities i need for college). So, were you able to get a scholarship to lawrenceville? I am very smart ( in top 10 of class) and I have a million EC"s and I am pretty sure I can make it into the school.... money is my only problem.

Oh yeah, my Extra credits/ sports from last year and this year are... NJHS, NJAHS, best on track and XC team, over 50 hours with special needs children, a 200 hour service project, winning a governer's award, winning a $5,000 grant from the pepsi refresh project( for my 200 hour service project), being a girlscout troop leader, doing rec basketball, 100 extra community service hours ( from lots of different things), being in drama club, being in KEY club, being in ROCT, and I have maintained straight A+'s this year and all of last year ( exception to one A) and I have AP standardized test scores. So what do you think my chances are of getting in? ( sorry for all the questions!! lol)

You seem to be thriving where you are, that should be good enough to get into a good college if that is your goal and a reason to want to go to a BS. Big fish in a medium pond may be better than a small fish in a big pond.
