@BusterDad- Who told you your daughter's case was "in play" until the last moment? The school or a consultant? Will schools give you that info. if you ask?

Also, just curious- did your daughter get off the wait list?

are you guys gonna stay up all night or get up early...i contemplated doing both but my mom won't give me her email password. this is us in the car:

Me: Mom, will you give me your password so I can check on March 10th?
Mom: No, sorry.
Me: But you can change it right afterwards!!
Mom: I've had that password for years and I don't want to change.
Me: Are you serious?!?! You don't need to be sentimental about your passwords!

Full pay will not guarantee you a spot in a top tier school

perrier2468: my daughter's school's guidance councilor talked to Andover, as I remember.

No, she did not get off the WL the second time: Andover took none of the WL that year, and, as I remember, had to find space for beds over the summer just to house the admits; the yield was higher than expected.

For those of you who think being a "legacy" gets you a free ride, it certainly doesn't at a school like Andover under most circumstances. And I don't think I would want it any other way. As an alum, I think the application should get extra care in consideration to avoid mistakes, but that the kids should be fully competitive in the admissions process.

There is no Full Pay for top tier schools. Each school spent much more on each student than the tuition. Take Andover for example, PA spent average almost $80,000 per student annually. The tuition is less than $50,000.

Yeah, I've heard the difference (from the actual cost compared to the tuition) is from the endowment from alumni.

And omg tomorrow night is going to be crazy!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S SATURDAY SOON. OMGOMGOMG.

I'm not sure if the gnawing pain in my stomach is just hunger or nervousness. March 10th is my birthday... let's hope it's a happy one.
