Hey!~ I have some qucik questions about NMH

1. What is the policy on computers?
- i.e. I just simply can't stand working on a laptop, and I only feel comfortable using a Desktop. Are Desktops allowed?

2. Can you tell me the start/end times of each period, sports and study hours?

3. How many single dorms are there, and what is the likelihood of getting one? Do you have the option to choose which type you want? Can freshman also live in a single?

Thank you!~

There aren't many singles, However all the dorms are nice and there is not one where I wouldn't want to live. Desktops are allowed.

More Questions

I also heard there's a daily internet usage limit. How much is this?
On that note, I am also curious about the internet speed in NMH. I find slow internet quite distracting.

I applied to NMH and got accepted. I think I will go there this year. It seemed to be a good school. Can anyone describe how the bedrooms and the beds are? What the people do in the weekends?

There is technically a limit on internet, however in my 2 years I have only gone over once. It was when I was sick and I was watching movies on netflix all day. You do get an email when you exceed half of your daily usage. It is really hard to go over. The internet is fast.

Kittykatmiau Congratulations on getting accepted! I hope to see you next fall! NMH is a wonderful school! It depends on the dorm. Each dorm has its own specific feel to it. Some dorms have bigger rooms. There are 4 triples on campus. Usually only 2 are used as triples. Almost every room is a double. You will have a roommate. Beds are TwinXL which means that they are longer and a little wider than a regular Twin. Weekends are really what you make of them. There are always activities to do. Games to see. There are trips to various places. It just depends on what you want to do. I hope this helps!

Hi...so I was just accepted to NMH during the rolling admissions. I'm from Brazil and they did not give me any kind of financial aid, and I didn't actually expect it either. Pomfret gave me a scholarship and my parent really want me to go to Pomfret since they would pay 14,000 dollars less than they would pay at NMH. NMH is my first choice and I really want to enroll. Could you guys help me on getting a few arguments to show them that the difference is worth it? Or would you say it isn't at all?

well i think pomfret is ranked a bit higher than NMH in terms of academics......so maybe you shoould try to consider pomfret.....if you still dont want it then tell your prents and tell them about the NMH work program and how nice the campus is and how friendly and welcoming everyone seemed and tell them it should be your choice bc your the one going to boarding school.

Hey all. I'm from Australia and I got accepted! I'm really excited to go!
But theres one thing...

NMH seems to have a really strict policy on internet/computer usage:

They say you cant overuse the internet, nor can you play online games on it. Is this how it really is in NMH? Or are they a little more lenient on it? I have to say, as much as I'm excited about going to NMH, I don't want to miss out on my 1-2 hours of online gaming every week! :P

Congratulations on getting accepted! NMH does not have a strict internet/computer usage restrictions. There is a limit of internet you can use in a day, however it is almost impossible to go over. Yes you can play online games. THere are sites that you can't get on to, however the ones that are restricted are like porn sites and other sites that are inappropriate. I am looking forward to seeing you on campus in the fall. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. ~NewEnglandPrep1

Hi everyone,
I applied to NMH for next year, and I am not quite sure how they "break the news" to those who have applied. I got news back from SPS, but the only emails I have gotten from NMH, are "Peter Fayroian wants you to take an online survey." Do they admit by letter or online, and am I too early?

NMH should of sent you an email with your application ID and password so you can sign in tomorrow at 9:00am to find out if you have been accepted, wait listed or denied admission for next year. Good luck!
