Bad rec?

Hey,
I havent asked my math teacher formyteacher recccomendation yet, but i feel like she doesn't really like me. How can a bad teacher reccommendation affect your prep chances?

thanks i think it is going to be more of an okay recommendation not exactly a bad one, because i have one of the top grades in her class. However, im going to try to get her to warm up to me

I'm pretty sure you can change the recommender on Gateway. You can request it but they obviously don't prefer that.

dancer5890 When my children were going through the process I advised them to ask their teachers directly if they felt they could "write" for them. I think in many schools if a teacher does not believe they can give you a somewhat positive recommendation, then they will decline your request. However, this only works with schools that allow you to choose between science/math and history/english teachers for the LOR. If the school specifies "current math teacher" then you really have no choice. If they don't specify "current", then you could consider using your 7th grade math teacher, who you might have a better relationship with.

Thank you all for the help!
@HarvestMoon1 the schools im applying to do specify current math teacher, but most of them also allow you an extra recommendation too so i might do the math teacher from last year who would give an amazing recommendation. I just hope that recommendation will make up for a bad current math reccomendation.

Why not send the application with last year's amazing rec and use the next month on making the relationship with the current one better, and asking for it after Thanksgiving?
