Which year is better for Study Year Abroad, Junior or Senior?

Has anyone done SYA in any London Boarding Schools? What are your experiences like?

I don't see that SYA has a program with English schools, so maybe you're talking study abroad programs in general? At any rate, this doesn't work with SYA, but my kid is applying through AFS to go sophomore year. His thought is that he won't have to worry about SAT's; he'll be home for his two strongest athletic years; and if he needs to make up any credits to meet graduation requirements at home, he'll have more time to do it.

I really can't imagine on what basis you are making that very broad statement. There are many reasons why it can be a wonderful and appropriate experience to study abroad in high school. I have had kids do SYA. You can PM me with any questions, though I am very biased toward the experience if your child is the type to benefit (and most would be) and biased towards SYA.

I attended SYA many years ago. It was wonderful, and from what I understand from talking to recent alumni, it still is. There is no London program, nor has there ever been. Also, you do not live at a boarding school abroad with SYA. You live with a local host family. Most people go during their Junior year. Feel free to PAN me if you want more specific information.
