Math/science programs at Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and St. Paul

Hi, Everyone,

I am trying to compare the math/science offerings of the following schools: Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and St. Paul's. Not necessary to find a "better" one but would love to hear your favorite parts of math/science programs of these schools. Thanks a lot!

Hotchkiss has, in my opinion, the best math and science program.
If you are interested in both those subjects you might want to look at Thacher.
Thacher has the best math program I have seen for prep schools.

That's really interesting. Why would you put Hotchkiss and Thacher's math programs at the top? When it comes to discussions of math programs on CC, the focus is often on Exeter and whether or not Harkness is a good way to learn math. But I haven't seen much discussion about the math programs at either Thacher or Hotchkiss and would love to know what puts them at the top.

Deerfield has a beautiful new science center, and Hotchkiss was also very good in math and science. St Paul's did not have as many advanced courses or emphasis, because it is smaller, but it still seemed reasonably good. My math/science D liked each of them.

Choate's research program, Andover and Exeter also very strong in math and science. Loomis not bad either.

Our son is a math/science guy, and liked the programs at Deerfield and Thacher best. He was accepted at both schools, and is attending Thacher. Not sure I'm in a position to compare programs, but our son is extremely happy with his Math instruction at Thacher. The school does an excellent job of placing students in classes based on their experience and aptitude. They will provide appropriate classes for advanced students, even if only one or two kids need an advanced class.
