applications to boarding schools up, down or same?

Anybody have a take on whether or not applications to boarding/day schools are up or down this year?

They are always up, they have been in the last years and I assure you that most likely the trend will continue

I can tell you about the UK, and it may correspond
Boarding schools are around the same numbers, the continued financial problems stop the numbers really increasing
Day school numbers, at least in some areas, have increased much more then expected this year, at one school I'm applying to it's gone up about 20% from last year

It's easier to tell for here because most results come out in the first week of December, so all the stats are in by now

The number of applicants always appears to be increasing the year that you apply. IMO the numbers have more or less remained the same the past few years. There has been an increase and that now seems to be the new norm. There are some hot schools out there such as Brooks that now get an average of 1000 applicants each year.
