| It doesn't really matter all that much, but laptops are more convenient. Desktops are larger and if you use your desk a lot, then they can take up a little too much space for some people. Also, you can take a laptop to a friend's room to study or to the library and can be moved around the desk to create more space. |

| Some schools are moving in the direction of all-laptops. And some not only allow, but require you to bring your laptop to class for note taking and other work.
My son and his roomie both had laptops this past year. |

| Sweet. It seems like they're the way to go. I was leaning towards them, anyway.
Also, what brand should I get?
My dad wants to get an HP. I want a Vaio. lol He says HP's are better quality. I say Vaio's look cooler. lol. |

| My son, who does everything to excess, had both. He had a small Dell laptop (not new) to haul around campus, and a powerful desktop in his room. He had plenty of room on his desk, because you really just put the monitor on the desk (flat panel) and the box goes on the floor. He did not have a printer, but says he should have. |

| Desk Tops are better if you live nearby, but if you have to fly, then lap tops are good for the stupid hours on the plane and for not having to ship things in and out.
I guess laptops are good to move around, but much useless if your battery dies in 2 or 3 hours and if the campus doens't have wireless.
Also, note taking on laptops is kinda retarded. |

| We are a big computer family- he actually built the desktop from components- it is very fast and has lots of memory. Laptops really aren't comparable to desktops in terms of performance. |

| Why is taking notes on laptops retarded?
I write fast, but I type faster.
Yeah, I'd have to fly, so I think a laptop would be easier. |

| Trust us on that one; you won't be taking notes on your laptop.
If you have to fly, buy a laptop. Most students have one, and on warm spring days you can do your work outside with everyone else. I believe many prep schools have wireless networks. |

| Yeah.. I think I'm going to buy a laptop even if they don't let us take notes on them.
Thanks! |
