Agree. And I'll make it easier.

But you may get confused...as there's more than one woman...in which case you'll need to eat some humble pie and call the Admission Office and ask the staff assistant for the name of the person who interviewed you. That person should be able to give you the name. And while I seriously doubt that she will make a notation on your file that you blanked out on your interviewer's name, that kind of call is always worth avoiding if at all possible. So, yes, check out the link above and hopefully you'll say, "BINGO" (or "Susan!" or "Heather!" or "Laura" as the case may be) and get that thank you note in the mail! Good luck!

Many schools also use teachers to interview. My brother's was with the Dir. of Admission and the other interviewers I saw were women.

Question about thank-you note: I had a phone interview today for Groton, and she gave me her name but not an e-mail address or anything like that. (She did give me the general number to call, but I don't think it would make sense to call her to say thank-you, since I already said thank-you on the phone). For St. Paul's, the person gave me her email address, and for all the others I had personal interview so they gave me their cards and I sent notes by mail. Should I not send a thank-you note? If I should, how?

Was she an alum? If so, call the admissions office to get her address. If she works at Groton, just send it to her attention at Groton. I think it is a good thing to send a thank you note.

She's an adcom. I just wrote the letter and simply put her name on top in front of "Groton School". I think that'll be fine.

pretty: Any written note that gets to its destination is good. It's not going to turn the tables on you. I assume you added Groton, MA ZIP below "Groton School" and, if so, you're good.

suze: You're absolutely right about the AdCom not constituting the entire universe of interviewers for a school -- even on campus. So if tennisgirl isn't sure that one of those people in the St. Paul's Admission Office was the one she spoke with on the phone, a call to find out who was is in order.

SPEAKING OF WHICH: I may have overstated the dreadfulness of making such a call. I don't believe it will have the slightest adverse impact on an admissions decision. Not even a teensy one. It just sucks having to place that kind of call because you feel like such a goof. (I know about such things!) I hate for anyone to feel that way...and that's why I warn against it. But it beats the alternative: not bothering to send a T-Y note.
