Chance me, please be honest!

Hi, I'm a Thai student (dont know if that will be a URM hook or not) applying to 10th grade at Choate, SPS, Taft, Cranbrook, and LFA.

My SSAT score is

Vocab 707, 71%

Math 791, 92%

Reading 695, 75%

Overall 2193, 83%

---------------------------

Academics:
I'm currently in a prep school in Minnesota
I've earned a 4.0 GPA since 7th grade
My current courses are:

English 9
Physics (top in my class)
Algebra II (took geometry last year, 2 years faster than most students)
World History
Orchestra
Spanish I

Extracurriculars:
Knowledge Bowl, placed 1st in the first meet we had
Science Bowl, only 9th grader qualified, team competing at state level this Jan
Investment Club, Winner of the Virtual Stock Market

Athletics:
JV Cross-Country
Basketball (last year)
Joining Track this spring

Also, I'm getting a rec from a director of a top university in Thailand to SPS.

Honestly, what are my chances?
Do you think that 83% SSAT will weigh me down? (English is my second language)

Cranbrook, you can basically be assured you'll get in. As for the other schools, you have a chance, but I'm not quite sure how much of a chance compared to THIS year's applicant pool... Good Luck!!!

I'm not gonna lie. An eighty three will weigh you down (they expect eighty five to ninety five) but you're other stuff is extremely good so that might compensate for it. You have a chance!

Will they care that English is my second language? Because for me, the vocab is extremely hard...

It may be too late to comment but from my experience, Choate should be o.k. Cranbrook is very good school but may not popular as MA,CT area. If compare with Thai student. You look better. My newphew got SSAT 82% and grade and other activities are not perfect like you. She got Lawrenville,NJ.

To Be Honest, I think everything you've listed about yourself isn't bad but it isn't good either. I'm sorry to inform you, but honestly you're not Cranbrook material.
Have a good day, you 83% SSAT LOSER.

@Putter,

An SSAT percentile of 83% is good, considering English is your 2nd language. You can click on "Average SSAT percentile" to see how your SSAT compares with the avg for the schools on you list:
http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/school_ranking.php

Ignore RobertLi's rude comment. Cranbrook's avg SSAT percentile is 68%.

Being a Thai national may be a hook if the school does not already have students from Thailand.

As long as you don't need financial aid, I think you have a good shot at getting accepted at at least one of these schools.
