Choate/Hotchkiss

I plan to apply to Choate Rosemary Hall and Hotchkiss (and possibly Andover, too) next year, for my junior year- I'm currently a freshman- and was wondering what my chances of getting in are.
My grades this year were good, with the exception of my Geometry grade.
Geometry- C
Honors History- A
Biology- A
Honors English- A
Spanish 2- A
I plan to work extra hard next year to get straight A's. I haven't taken the SSAT yet, but I took an SAT II in Biology and got a score > 730. This may sound immodest, but I'm the best writer in my grade and I'm not too worried about the application essays.
I've played violin for 6 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. In addition to my school's orchestra, I've participated in and earned awards from local youth, all-county, and all-state orchestras. I definitely plan to continue my musical studies at Choate/Hotchkiss. I play soccer and plan to continue that, too.
I'm going to attend Yale's Ivy Scholars Program this summer, too, which I'm really excited about.
As for community service, I've volunteered well over 100 hours at the local hospital. I also volunteer as violin instructor and secretary of a program that brings a free music education to inner-city kids who would normally not have access to one.
I really, really like both schools- I especially like the Arts Concentration program at Choate and the Human Neuroanatomy/Biomedical Ethics course offered at Hotchkiss (I'm thinking of going into medical school).
Anyway, I know its hard to judge if someone could get in since the applicants change every year and there's limited space in each class, but your insight would be really appreciated

Hi, I go to Hotchkiss and to me you sound very determined and well prepard. Yeaa carry on and you could get in! Both Choate and Hotchkiss are great great school.As for Hotchkiss, You will just love it! Here the school gives a real sense of community and academic is strong. Good luck to you

Im applying to these schools also , your grades are awesome but sometimes boarding schools can suprise you in many ways ,,especially these elite ones. Be sure.to have at least 2 saftey schools , like blair or NMH or loomis. None the less I do wish you luck on your admissions

Choate has a better science program. Check out the Science Research Program that we offer on the Choate website. This program puts students in labs over the summer (Yale, Hopkins, etc.) and allows you to dedicate an entire course to studying a scientific topic of your choice for an entire year. Also, we are in the process of building a new STEM building on campus which will extend our already extensive science department.

I applied to these schools last year but got rejected. But it looks like youve had alot of activities going on, so it depends on your ssat and financial aid and other stuff like that. I think I was rejected because I am asian and I needed financial aid. My ssat score was 89% (54 in reading 99 in math and 85in vocab). I hope that kinda helped you....
