Exeter/Andover Chances?

Hey, I'm thinking of applying to Exeter/Andover next year and I'd just like to know if I have a chance, and if I don't, what I should do by this summer to improve those chances!

Well first off, I'm a gifted student with an IQ in the 99th percentile and am currently attending a gifted school.
I am a poet and I have published 2 poems through Creative Communications. One of those 2 poems I got paid for, and it ranked in the Top 10 in all of North America.
Debating is something I have started recently. Luckily, it seems I have a knack for it. In my first year I placed a gold and silver in Regionals, and get to progress to Provincials! Sadly, people in my age caliber and not allowed to go to Nationals.
I also skipped grade 2, something I feel proud about!
I sing and I dance. I am going to the TYC workshop this summer.
Volunteering is something I do AT LEAST weekly. I help with an online news site which counts for volunteer hours. I also volunteer at community locations, feeding the homeless, helping at shelters, and with our local animals shelter!
I maintain relatively high grades, a 96+ average.

I am applying for Exeter and Andover. I live in Canada, but I have American permanent residency card. I lived in Boston for 6+ years. I'm Asian too I am learning French, quite fast I'd like to think.

Not to sound pretentious, but I am quite charismatic in person. Nevermind, that sounded pretentious anyways. However, I needed to say that anyways because it might help/hinder your opinion of me!

You sound like your applying for Harvard . I can only imagine how high your Ssat score is going to be. None the less you should also apply to choate , deerfield and st.pauls for backup but honestly you tectonically have a better chance at Exeter than Andover. Exeter tends to be a more complicated and strict education environment where.youu would do , while Andover is a more free environment filled with personalities, in the admissions process I honestly think its 60% personality and 40% academics because everyone applying there has great grades and accomolishments but they want to see who you are and wethere or not you'll do well at the school socially and academically. Goodluck

Haha, that's funny! You say it sounds like I'm applying for Harvard, when that's my dream school. So yes, eventually

Wow.....you look like a great fit for andover (don't know much bout exeter though. Never applied)! Debate is real strong at PA. Our team completley swept the new england championships an new members are always welcome. I do understand you have top notch academics, but you have to understand that these top schools are a crapshot for acceptance. Our head of admission said that 75% of applicants are academically admissable, but what separates the accepted from the others is their character, and that's what you have to have if you want to get into any of these schools. Just some food for thought . And also, terrific stats!!

Good luck!!

Thanks, you guys have been really supportive. And yes, I know that grades are only a fraction, but I am Asian so it's a necessity
And @Swimdude006, the one thing that is preventing me from having Andover as my first choice is that they don't have Harkness. Could you give me a bit of contrast on that? It would help a ton. Also, I'd like to think the personality is prominent and unique enough to qualify!
Also, is there anything I should do this summer/next year to improve my chances?

CellyZ, I know that at andover the english (and history I think) are run discussion style, but they just don't refer to them as Harkness classes. The other classes like math and science are more traditional from what I've seen.
I may be going to Andover, but I don't think that either Exeter or Andover is better than the other, they are both excellent schools with a few different details, you would do well at either.

Andover 2016 is correct and it really is all personal preference. I won't say my criticisms on this thread to prevent flaming (pm me if you want), but I will say that I love discussion classes in the humanities because they aren't as concrete in terms of knowledge. I actually had never heard of exeter till revisit (never looked online for schools...applied in a week based on my parent's friends input on schools), but I must say that it is a great school.

I think you're a shoo in. I also have an IQ in the 99th percentile and I know for a fact that Andover LOVES THAT. Tell me if you get in.
