Please help...SSAT scores

Here's my story guys! I'm an eighth grade male applying to Andover..(I live in Andover, so I would be a day student.) Anyway, I took the Upper Level SSAT in 7th grade as practice, and scored in the 97th percentile. I took it again a week ago, and this time only got a 91! This test seemed so much harder, the vocab words were impossible! Keep in mind both tests were upper level, does anyone know what could have accounted for the huge difference in scores? Also, should I retake the test? Andover is extremely competetive and I was wondering if a 91% was too low...

I would appreciate any help I could get!

91 is pretty good. Andover is known to take kids who scored in the mid 70's to 80's range, so I'd say if the rest of your application is strong and you have good EC's, you're fine. If, however, you're positive you can do better if you retake the test, then retake it. It's a gamble, but it may pay off.

91 is a great score... Keep in mind everything changes on the test in terms of words and problems. It's almost like a luck of the draw sort of thing with the vocabulary.

A prep school mom here--91 is a great score and that keeps you in the drawing. As long as your grades are good, classes challenging and you have something to offer to the school, you have a good chance.

Yeah, the fact that you're a day student makes it slightly easier, given dorm space is not an issue. Like everyone said, the 90's is within the Andover ball park, so if your essays and interview are good, you have a very good chance.
