Why doesn't Princeton offer summer classes? I find this bizarre because nearly every other university runs a summer school.

They do. It's called FSI and only for incoming freshmen who have enormous responsibilities upon starting school (usually sports of some kind).

You can get course credit at a number of other institutions if you so desire. Just make sure the proper forms are filled out in time.
