Princeton and Racial Diversity

Hey guys and gals,

I want to get some feedback hopefully from students at Princeton right now.

How open is the campus to Asian-Americans. I did some research on the colleges I'm planning to apply to and there seems to be a lot of negative publicity over Princeton's racial sensitivities. Any ideas/comments?

The only negative publicity I'm familiar with is the kid who sued Princeton on the grounds that they would've accepted him had he not been Asian. This is an affirmative action issue: it's a controversial issue across the nation and not unique to Princeton at all. It just happens to be that this particular kid wanted to sue this particular school.

In response to your question, Princeton is very open to Asian Americans. I have plenty of Asian friends and know plenty of Asian clubs and events going on quite often, and for what it's worth we have fantastic departments in Asian studies . I wouldn't say there's any "racial tension" or anything like that at all (and would be surprised if any of our peer schools did have any racial tensions).

(I'm hispanic, for what it's worth.)
