Your thoughts?

Hello people, i was wondering about where i stand as an applicant. It would be great if you could offer me your opinions.

My stats.

Objective

SAT I - 2180 CR-750, M-790, W-640 (11/12) - probably retaking it due to W.

SAT II - 2390 PHY-800, CHEM-800, M2-790

Unweighed GPA - No idea. (should be perfect? since i got an A for all my subjects :/ )

Rank - 5/800? (not too sure since my school doesnt do formal ranking)

Course Loads - A'level Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Economics, GP - AAAA/A

Major Awards - National youth achievement award -gold. Distinction for a national economic quiz.

Subjective

1st in Under 20 category for Marathon 2012 despite tearing my meniscus. was 5th in 2011 - crafted my own training program and other awards related to track

Chairman of organising committee for school green week

Chairman of organising committee for school community project (involved 2000 people)

Panel member on a national organisation that decides on funding for youth projects.

Did facilitation for some national conferences - national youth, climate change conferences etc.

Extracurriculars - Track and field, represented school in nationals. 5th for 1500m under 20.
more slow twitch than fast twitch sigh.

Platinum award from school for community service. totalled 500+ hours in past 6 years.

Hooks : First gen. if that helps.

I would really appreciate any and all comments as well as tips.

Thanks alot

Whats your 1500 time? If your 4:05 or faster you may have a shot at being a recruited athlete.

If you're white:
Your ECs are really lacking... Even if you get your SAT writing up 100 points, I still see you being waitlisted. If you're recruited, you have an excellent shot, but otherwise I'd say your chances are pretty slim...

If you're black/Hispanic/Native American:
You're probably in... Just raise that SAT writing score 100 points or so.

URMs aren't held to the same standard as everyone else as far as admissions go, so if you're a URM, you'll probably be fine, but if you're not then I don't see you getting in unless you're recruited... Your application is rather mundane, no offense. Apply to a bunch of top schools, a couple might accept you! Best of luck!

The only things holding you back are the EC's try to join some clubs related to your major and hold some leadership positions. Race does play a role not because standards are lower but because its more interesting and respectable for a URM to have spectacular stats and cliche for ORM to have spectacular stats. Chance me back!

Oh, I'll explain that. If you are black or Hispanic, in other words a URM, that is considered a hook. Top schools seek to be diversified and create a microcosm of the real world within their walls. This makes the high achieving minority a very desirable asset. Or something like that.
