Continuity vs. Comfort

Okay...so I have a dilemma
I'm an extremely huge music person. I play the trumpet and have been playing for 8 years.
Since I arrived at high school, I have been in marching band (after school activity) for three years and plan on joining senior year to make it four.
I have also played in the concert band (an actual class) for three years. But...I'm thinking of dropping it because:
-I do not feel challenged in it. Especially b/c all the good players graduated last year. The repertoire is also...not very interesting.
-I really want an extra off period.
-I could use it to relax. Plus...say I get in SCEA...I don't want to worry about playing tests after I got accepted.
-I don't want to ruin my GPA.

Okay...the last three reasons are kind of superficial...but you get the point.

Should I still take concert band to show continuity/determination/steadfastness/etc.?
Or should I not...after all I'm still doing marching band.

HELP PLEASE

I would say, sure, drop concert band, especially if you're keeping marching. (Unless you're planning on majoring in music...) However, I'm not sure that replacing it with a free period is a great idea. Not knowing your schedule / how it compares with others', I can't really judge. But, I don't think that free periods look too great. (My school didn't have the option. So I don't really know, actually.)

I will still be taking 5 APs, so hopefully my schedule will still look "rigorous." I just really want another off to be able to breathe a little you know? Hm...I don't know what to do.

What would you do with your free period? Imagine writing a college essay on that subject.
