Humanities Symposium?

Does anyone knowif it's still running this year? I just found out about this earlier this week and I am a rising senior. Is there any possibility that I can talk to my guidance counselor/teachers now and see if I can still be nominated? Or is it too late for the nomination process? Thanks!

twiggerific: My son didn't find out about this until the very end of August, 2005 when we got back from vacation and his teacher called to say that they had just learned of it and wanted to nominate him with one day left. So it probably isn't too late, but getting close to the deadline for nominations. He was accepted and loved it and completed the freshman Humanities Sequence there this year.

It's the weekend of Sept 29th, but I'm not sure what the exact duration is.

I was nominated and my counselor told me the theme is "Paris, Capital of the Nineteenth Century,” and the opening remarks will be given by David Remnick of The New Yorker. She also said it would be held from Sept. 28-30.

(Though I think I heard that the "Paris" theme was the theme last year...maybe she meant that that was last year's theme and she doesn't know this year's theme yet...)

D has been nominated, but we're not sure how she'll be notified. Is it by mail, e-mail or another method?

My son was notified of his acceptance by regular mail. The symposium is from the late afternoon/evening of the 28th (Friday) through Sunday morning. Good luck to all those seeking acceptance. It is a great experience.

We were told by the admissions office that notification would be sent out by mail toward the end of next week.

Just a heads up - attending this symposium definitely does NOT mean your child will be accepted at Princeton. Unfortunately, they put on the full court press at this and repeat phrases like "When you come her you will, " and "when you take this you will find, " thus getting kids pumped about the place. But they still have to get themselves in and they only admit some proportion of the 85 or so kids they invite to this.

CMA1...given EarlyRiser's comments yesterday that notification would be sent out this week, I was wondering if you meant that your son got the notice by mail for this years symposium? We are waiting too, and if so, I hope it doesn't mean notification for those selected already went out and those not will be notified this week!!!
